Heard some great stories growing up from my mom side of the family!

King Saul had a seer call up a ghost in the bible - It was Samuel and Samuel was very mad to get called up and then told Saul what he was asking for - said you and your boys die tomorrow! Bible also says or God says he does not like folks or seers or witch dr or what ever u call it trying to talk to dead spirits

I hav no reasons from experience to believe in ghosts - do not think on the topic much! Battle of good and evil is going on all time - forces we can’t see from a heavenly and demonic nature. Are ghosts possible - probably - samual came back as a ghost

Yeah that was the story that I was referring to in the original post.

I have thought about that for a long time, because it's in the Bible plain as day. I don't think Samuel was a ghost like we commonly think of ghosts today... Unsettled spirits that wander the earthly realm. I think he was a consciousness that was literally separated from God, because God allowed it to happen. I think Samuel was not happy about it, because he was called away from being reunited with God. Who would want to be separated from God's consciousness to have to go to some dark cave with a witch and a king in it?

I certainly don't expect anyone to believe what I believe, but at least I have arrived at my own conclusions by using logical deduction based on the knowledge that is available.

Never singled anyone out in my post, and wasn't my intention. My point was I've read some crazy shit in religious threads that folks believe in on here through the years, but Scoff at the mere mention of "Ghosts"

Nope
Shotgun was in hand
When you’re listening to a bird gobbling it’s not time to put your shotgun down
That has been 10-12 years ago and its still as fresh in my mind as the day it happened
I can’t explain what it was only that it was
It didn’t scare me at all and I was amazed especially since I couldn’t figure out what it was

There is much theological debate whether these entities are ghosts or demonic/familiar spirits or something "else"...I believe it's difficult to get a clear grasp when trying to differentiate between them from a biblical perspective...

...trying to find an english word from a greek book doesn't come without its challenges.

But I have no question in my mind that these things exists. Events and occurrences that surpass a wordly/logical explanation. I have heard countless stories from credible people.

The folks that have never borne witness to them (including myself) have to go by what someone has told them. So there is sometimes a "faith" component to acknowledging their existence.

But the way I see it, if you believe that Jesus is who he says he is, NOTHING should surprise you when it comes to this type of stuff.

I’ve seen two different “ghosts” while working at UAB hospital. The first was a young lady sitting in a chair in an empty room. She turned to look at me, I waved, she didn’t wave back. Another nurse, walking towards me asked, who are you waving at? I said the girl in that room you’re walking into. She entered the room, walked back out and said no one was in the room.
The second sighting was at the elevators in the old part of the hospital. I was about a foot from the elevator doors. The doors opened and I went to take a step, when someone walked right in front of me and my friend cutting us off. As soon as they entered the elevator, the door closed. I immediately hit the up button which made the doors pop open. The woman wearing a white dress that cut us off was not in the elevator. My friend looked at me and everyone else that saw her get on the elevator and asked, where’d she go!? The 3 other folks said they weren’t gonna ride that elevator, me and my friend rode it on up.

Your hospital story made me think of what I guess would be the closest thing I have ever experienced to a "Ghost Story."

Our oldest son was very sick with liver failure at Grandview. Alcoholism and drugs were the cause. I had been visiting everyday and knew he didn't have long. I had stopped by that morning to check on him, but this had been going on for a while, so I went on in to my office in Inverness for a little while to check on some things, when the hospital called and said I needed to come back over, because he was close. I called my Dad and Boho on the way and they rushed over to meet me.

When we got there, the doctor was there, a couple of nurses and this black lady minister with dreadlocks was there too. She was a sweet soul. She sang this acapella version of Amazing Grace. We were all crying by the end. She looked at us and told us he was ready. She told us that they know when folks get there and it lets them release their soul back to God. I held his hand for a little while and kissed him on the forehead and about that time he flatlined. As soon as he did I felt this incredible rush come through my body that is hard to describe to anyone that has never experienced it. It was very similar to when the Holy Spirit moves in you if you have ever experienced that. It was his spirit moving through me and it knocked me to my knees. It's not everyday you hold your son in your hands and feel his soul leave this Earth, but I know 100% that is what I felt. I've never had that happen before or since, but I know what it was because I've felt the Holy Spirit move in me many times.

He was single his whole life and never had any kids. Years later I had this dream. It was super vivid, but it was more like a vision. In that vision it was like some alternative timeline, or alternative universe or Heaven. I don't know. But I just remember seeing Chris in this field of flowers. He was holding this gal's hand. She was a cute lady and she was his wife. I just knew this. He had his arm around her. She was holding the hand of a little toddler boy about 3 years old and Chris was holding a little baby girl maybe about a year old in his other arm. They were the children he never had. They were just standing there looking at me as soft breeze blew. They all seemed very happy and contented.

I believe it was God's way of letting me know that everything was OK and Chris was indeed in a better place free from his demons and addictions. I remember telling Boho about it the next morning.

I know that there ar e people on here that don't think I believe in God correctly and I know that I'm probably a little "out there" for most people, but I can tell you that I believe in God 100% and I believe we are eternal spirits inhabiting these bodies made up of energy and atoms for a short time after which we either return to God or we are separated from God. I know that I know this...

I’ve never seen a ghost but the house my mom’s family moved into when she was in the 9th grade had a ghost that made frequent appearances. She and several of her siblings saw the lady (ghost) more than once.

A lady was killed in the yard sometime before they moved in, not sure if that lady was the ghost or not, but to this day they’ll all tell vivid stories of seeing the old lady (ghost).

Reminds of this story of an young fellow from the mountains of Tennessee. He went to work in the mines at an early age and after a while of working hard around all that equipment he was starting to think it wasn't worth it. The mine was always hot and loud. The young fellow was tired of being hot and starting to feel his health go bad. He finally quit and decided he was going to attend the University of Tennessee to make something of himself.

One of his first classes was a Psychology class. He made his way to the class and since he was afraid that he wasn't too smart, he chose to sit in the back.

The professor strode in and started giving the introduction to the class and towards the end He asked Who here believes in Ghosts, please raise your hand.
The young man, along with many others, of course raised his hand as he had always seen them around the farm and mountains where he grew up.

The professor then asked, Who here has ever seen a Ghost, please raise your hand.
The young man, along with a few others, kept his hand up as he had many times seen a Ghosts around his house.

Then the professor asked, Who here has ever spoken to a Ghost, please raise your hand.
The young man, along with about 5 others, kept his hand up as he had many times spoken to the Ghosts around his house.

Then the professor asked, Who here has ever had sex with a Ghost, please raise your hand.
The young man kept his hand up but as he looked around he was the only one with his hand raised.

The professor asked him to come down to the podium and the young man made his way down as everyone was watching him closely.

When he got down there the professor said, Young man please recount your experience of having sex with a Ghost.
The young man looked at him and stepped back and looked at the professor confused and then said:

"Ghost!?! Hell I thought you was saying Goats..."

Back in the mid 90's, I was working at NAS Pensacola in the Fuel Department. They built us a brand new Facility out in the middle of the woods. 4 Tanks, 2 million each. When we first opened for business, we would offload Fuel Barges, 2 million gallons or more. This would take 24 to 48 hours. So we were there the whole time. I used to volunteer, because I needed the money.

One of the first times, it was around 11 or midnight. The computer room was in the back of the building where I monitored the Fuel flow, and Tanks. I would hear the front door open and slam. Get up, and see who was there. No one. Hear it again every so often, but nothing. Thought, this place is haunted.

Told the guys about it during our work day and they would just laugh. One night I had a guy relieve me at 11 at night. Told him, don't let the ghost get ya.

Next morning I show up at 5:30, and the personnel gate is locked, along with the front door. I walk in, and he's like you mf'r I thought you were fucking with me. Scared him to death.

Have a lot of them stories working at night there.

“It was very similar to when the Holy Spirit moves in you if you have ever experienced that.”

Irish, I believe you WERE in the presence of The Holy Spirit, as it is present to receive/retrieve the soul from the body.

Well... It certainly could have been, but I was there and I've been moved by the Holy Spirit on many occasions, and it was different than that, but like I said... Similar.

Now the idea of the Holy Spirit swooping down to pick up dying person's soul is an intriguing idea. I've never heard of that.
