So our house build is coming along very smoothly. We should be all dried in by this weekend. Starting sheetrock this week. On track to be in by end of the year. Every sub we’ve had has just been remarkable and so skilled. All have been Mexican/Latino (except the guy who did the spray foam insulation and the HVAC) and I’m just in awe how folks can look at a picture or a set of plans and turn it into a home. Not a single one I’ve come in contact with (framers, concrete, roofers, etc.) speaks English. At best it’s very broken with a heavy Mexican accent.

Our bricks arrived last week and they started laying them yesterday. Man, that is like art in motion. Those guys were like a well oiled machine stacking and leveling and everything. So I’m standing there watching them and admiring their work and a young Mexican guy (prob in his 20’s) is standing there and I said “Muy Bruno!” as I’m pointing to them working. He looked at me and said “Yes. This is looking really good. I’ve never seen this color brick. It’s beautiful!” in PERFECT English and with as much Mexican accent as I have. I was stunned! He just smiled and got back to work.

It just struck me as funny as heck that 1) I did not expect to hear any English from him and 2) without a hint of accent! 😂
