My 2016 Honda Pioneer 1000 has been a tractor. It did foul a plug one time. Guess I should get rid of it.

X2 on the power steering
Flip up front windshield. Don’t skimp on the quality of this This for sure. I did not get power steering and I really wish I did. I will probably get it added. It’s not that bad until you are in tight spots and need to turn a lot or when my wife needs to use it.

Mule Pro FXT 820 with power steering. I have a 2022 Pro FXT 820 and love it. We have a 2025 Pro FXT 1000 at the farm also. The 1000 sits higher and certainly has more power and speed but for what you want isn't really unnecessary. The 1000s have a starting issue where it takes about 5 revolutions to crank which is somewhat of an annoyance but other than that no issues with either. The Chery engine in the Mule Pro FXT is also in the JD Gator 835(I think) are very reliable.

We had a thermostat break (must have been a bad casting) and 2 fuel injectors get clogged and have to be replaced. That's the only engine issues that we have had. Everything else we spent money on parts was everyday items, like suspension parts and windshield struts.

I only use John Deere Gators because I need them for ranch work mostly and the wiring is insulated with PVC instead of the soybean stuff the rats eat.

I currently have a honda 700 4 and I just bought a new polaris ranger crew 1000. The Honda smokes like crazy, but has been reliable. Like others mentioned, the engine heat can be rough in the summer.
I haven't had the polaris long enough to determine how reliable it will be. The polaris rides way smoother than the Honda.
I bought my ranger from Shoals Outdoor Sports in Tuscumbia. They were were easy to deal with and price matched another dealer that was priced lower.

I own a Gator s4 and it’s tough. It’ll go thru near bout anything and rides good but it’s loud even with the silencer kit. We have a Can Am at work and it’s the best sxs I’ve ever been on. I have owned a Mule 4010 and it was a workhorse and a great buggy without speed and Cadillac ride.

Got two Honda Pioneer 700s that have taken way more physical abuse than Polaris can take under the conditions we put them through. Hondas are shaft driven. You can’t replace that with anything else in work conditions. They do get hot under the seat, but the 2023 models and newer are better at that than the previous models. If door rattling bothers you then remove them. No biggy.
Most important part of owning a Honda is changing the oil when you are prompted to. Do not go well over the maintenance schedule. If you’ll do that they’ll last forever. The ride gets better after about 1000 miles.
I’m likely to buy a 1000-5 soon for something these 4 seater 700s can’t effectively do.

I make my living in a Honda pioneer 700. Most plastic has been tore off and I have abused it for 10 years. My next one will be the same. Just rode in a Polaris 1000 showing a realtor some mountain land. I was impressed it took some rough stuff

Don’t overlook the JD Gator 835. They have a 3cylinder car engine. When I was looking for one I saw them with up to 50,000 miles. Lots of times they would have over 20,000, that’s a ton for a SxS.
