For those following James Spann, we have had 5 separate bear sightings in Shelby Co since Friday with photos. Oak Mountain, Calera, Columbiana. Safe to say, we've got bears now. I know they have been around in small populations with rare sightings, but it looks like we got a decent population. I know South Alabama has had them for a while. Anyone notice much predation on the fawn population or changes?

There have been bear sightings virtually every year in the Birmingham area for at least 25 years. Nothing new.

These bears can move a long way and its probably the same bear different people are seeing.

They're all over down here around Brewton. They're gonna keep populating until Bama has a limited hunt.

Life is a journey. Make sure and bring plenty of Beer.

My luck has been so bad lately, it could be raining pussies and I'd catch one with a dick broke off in it.

About 20-25 years ago I was in a club in Bibb county. The old slab was at the south end of our place. We ended up getting several bears on camera which was crazy back then! Game and fish sent out wardens to do hair traps. Used fly paper type stuff over bait. They had documented 3 different bears. Said they came up the rivers from the mobile area all the way up to our place on the Cahaba. They actual stayed for about 2 years and then moved on. They said it was very rare for them to stay in one place for a long time.

Had one cross the road in front of me near Jacksonville, AL around 1990.

Told the game wardens. They insinuated I must have been drunk or stupid.

I can’t remember which podcast I was listening to but they were talking about the studies showing black bears as efficient fawn killers. It may have been deer university podcast

the shelby county bear pics are of a single bear. They can travel 15-20 miles per day. He will move on eventually to find a mate.
