There's been a lot of great supernatural stories told on ALDeer over the years. I personally don't believe in ghosts. In 65 years I have definitely seen, heard and witnessed unusual things, but I have never experienced anything that I could unequivocally claim was a ghost, a demon, an Angel or a spirit and not just some anomaly that could be explained away. Not to mention the fact that Biblical scripture does not appear to allow for the existence of ghosts. There is the story of Saul and The Witch or Endor, which is certainly interesting, but does not endorse the existence of ghosts.

On a side note, I do believe in Angel and demons. I think that most of our encounters with them since the Bible was canonized are mostly them disguised as humans. (There are notable exceptions to this if you are a Catholic, as there are multiple examples of angelic and demonic beings portrayed in Catholic traditions.) But this thread is not about that...

We have had several threads on here over the years where folks tell ghost stories that they say actually happened to them. I'm not disputing any of those if that's something that they truly believe in. This got me curious...

1. Do you believe in ghosts?
2. Why do you believe in them?
3. Is it because you have experience one?

And then lastly...

4. How do you rectify that with your Christian beliefs and what the Bible says?

Ghosts are an indication of an undisciplined imagination.

Not a believer in ghost, aliens, big foot and none of that foolishness.

Believer in the Holy Spirit (Holy Ghost)
Angels, Demons and pretty much all that Paul lays out in Ephesians 6.

🤷‍♂️

I've seen things that can't be dismissed as bad lighting or otherwise, not imagined, etc. I've had my name called from 50 feet away in a normal tone while in a very loud environment that required almost yelling to be heard. And I've witnessed a few things in the night sky that made maneuvers that are not possible with human made craft. I believe in Angels and demons. I also believe in parallel time which would explain some 'sightings'.

Five years ago my mom had cancer on almost every organ in her torso. With the help of prayers from Aldeer and others God has allowed her to live, though she was hours from death many times. Anyhow both parents have stories of Angels (invisible) coming to help them at UAB and even prior to diagnosis. I really do believe in them 100%, but I also believe that only the most humble servants get such exposure. I know I haven't lived the kind of life to concern the angels as much.

We did an experiment at work one day. We were out laying under ground utilities on Redstone Arsenal and had about 8 guys on our crew that day helping us. Old man got out a 2 sets of handmade dowsing rods and everyone used them to find a water line that had been installed decades earlier. We knew exactly where the waterline was cause we had the blue prints in our hand. Only one man read the prints so nobody knew where the line was and we didn't even know there was a line.

One set of rods were full copper and the other set were made from coat hangers.

Everyone that believed in the possibility of them working had them cross in their hand in the exact location. The ones that said it wouldn't work, theirs never moved.

We done this for years and it was the same each time.

Cool experiment.

The power of the human mind and the human consciousness is, I believe, an incredibly misunderstood and possibly underutilized part of our reality. I know both the CIA and the KGB have studied it for a long time, but both for nefarious reasons unfortunately.

Yes, just look at "pseudocyesis", commonly called a false or phantom pregnancy.

There was a time when my interest in industrial history (mining, railroads, blast furnaces, coke ovens, etc) had me photographing abandoned sites all over central Alabama, often at night and alone. There were several instances where people "saw" ghosts in the resulting images. I was there in person and never saw any... Now, I did see a few scoundrels along the way, hence the Condition one 1911 on my hip.

As a Christian, I certainly believe in angels and fallen angels.

In this shot from a long abandoned red ore mine slope (circa 1890s) I had people telling me they see a ghost. BTW, the image was shot using a timed exposure and a variety of lighting techniques because the old mine is pitch black normally.

There was a ghost in this one... Oh, wait a minute, that was the red LED on my Canon Speedlite that the camera picked up as I walked thru the long exposure.

No to ghosts but yes to Angels and demons, although I've never seen one per se, I know I've been in the presence of demonic forces. I've dealt with unbelievable evil in my working days and I know there was more than just human nature involved. I have enjoyed reading Kathryn Tucker Windham's 13 Alabama Ghosts though. She was a wonderfully gracious person and could tell stories, particularly ghost stories like no one else. People, especially kids would go by her house all the time, uninvited and she would always have a story for them and some lemonade. I've been to several of the places in the book and never saw a ghost. The courthouse in Pickens county though, I've seen the "ghost", which most people recognize as a distortion in the glass in the window.

This would be how Ouaji (sp?) boards work too. People don't realize they are moving the little thing, but they are.

I can take you to an old cemetery that’s a great place for calling turkeys. No mosquitoes there at all. If you step outside the parameters of the cemetery the mosquitoes will tear you apart. Inside the cemetery there’s nothing, no bugs, no flies, no spiders, no mosquitoes, no ants, nothing. I can’t explain it but I like it.

I hate making a good first impression. There’s no way I can keep that shit up.

I’m right there with you. The last I had done it with was a forked peach limb my late father gave me. It would bow over double at water. How I have no answer but it would twist in my hands holding as hard a grip as I could. Finally over time it split. I wish I would have put that one up. But since I’ve taken several fruit bearing fork limbs and can do the same.
