I had lasik over 20 years ago. Sunglasses immediately were a must have item afterwards. I am not sure why, but bright light (day and night) didn't bother pre lasik. I have had glass lens costas ever since. I recently bought a pair of $6 Ozark trail from Walmart to leave in another vehicle. I now wear them over my costas. I went back and got another pair but they mess with my vision a little. I plan to get another pair or two, but I will make sure they are like the first pair instead of the second before I walk out with them.

I don’t wear sunglasses near as much as I should. My wife bought me a pair of Wiley X I think they are called. I really like them. One thing is they are polarized and I can’t see my phone with them one. Well maybe that’s not such a bad thing.

Once you get your eyes checked DON'T buy your glasses from the doctor. They overcharge you for glasses and lenses. Go to https://www.zennioptical.com/ put in your prescription and then buy you several different pairs of glasses from them for what you would pay for one set of glasses from your doctor's office. One key thing is measure your PD distance. You can get it on your prescription if you ask the doctor to do it, or you can easily measure it yourself. This will help you pick out the right sized frames for yourself.

I have worn Zenni Optical glasses for years and they have been great. They have just about any style and size frame you want and then on top of that they have quite a few options on lenses and tints for snunglasses available as well as clip on sunglass lenses for most prescription glasses they sell.

THIS! I wear prescription glasses. I’ve had Maui Jim, Costas, Ray Ban, Shady Rays, etc through the years. I ordered a pair of Zenni sunglasses in my prescription for less than $80. They live in my truck and are my most comfortable glasses.

I came here to commend anyone who has had sunglasses for 12 years! I mean, something so personal that you use on the daily you have had for 12 years!

I've had 2 pair of Costas. One pair got scratched pretty badly and I was going to send them back to have them relensed... no dice. Style has been "discontinued" and lenses no longer available however they gave me a coupon for 30% off another pair which I thought was substantial so I got another pair. Eventually one of the legs broke off and I ended up ordering some multi pack sets of glasses WITH readers from Amazon for a fraction of the price. A pair of sunglasses in every vehicle, purse, house, etc... winner!

This is why I can't believe you've had a pair for 12 years! I'm terribly rough on sunglasses and eyeglasses! Another note, the Costas had a slight distortion in the lenses, in other words, they weren't what I call crisp vision.

KastKing Toccoa or KastKing Flatrock on Amazon. Polarized, UV blocking, and $30(+/-) so if you lose, scratch or break them it’s no big deal.

I still have my first pair of glass lens polarized Smith's; not a scratch on them after 35 years. Did not wear them for a long time; but the retro style is back. Couple other pair of smith's over 10 years.

Though I have broken a few; and they give you 60% off a replacement if my fault.

Check with Shelton's in Moulton, they had Fin-nor glasses for $50 regular around 200 ,they quit making glasses but are high quality, also look on ebay at Leupold glasses.

I’ve tried two pairs of Maui Jims but they both gave me a slight headache from eye strain. When I returned the 2nd pair the sales person said that wasn’t uncommon as the Maui’s have the strongest polarization. I loved the glasses but they just don’t work for me.

Costas or any other cheap polarized glasses don’t cause the issue.

Those sound like Sun Cloud and Unsinkable , I've had both and they are good and about that price .

My new go to brand is optics planet. I go with the Ziggys. Buy them at academy for 39:99. And I’ll put them up against any pair of Costas I have ever bought in the 2 to 3 dollar range. Simply keep the receipt if if you have any issues they replace no questions asked. And uve got a couple of par of broken Costas setting around the house. It isn’t worth the hassle of dealing with them anymore

I didn’t read all the responses, Maui Jim’s are very good. I recommend comparing them side by side with smiths. To my eyes the Smiths have better clarity. I also prefer glass lenses but they are heavier on the nose and take some getting used to. Some people prefer plastic. Your first decision imo should be glass or plastic lenses and then compare brands. I still side with Smith but you can’t go wrong with Maui.

Another vote for Maui’s. I have two pair. I’ve had Ray-Ban, Smith and Costa. MJ’s have been the best by far.

You may want to check out island optics out of south FL I ran across them a few years ago at Miami boat show and all I have worn since. I fish offshore 3-4 days a week and have given 6-7 pairs of Costas I had away. 75-100 bucks non prescription and maybe another 50-100 if prescription. But as everyone else said be sure and go to an eye doc was a game changer for me. They are a small builder focused on the fishing industry. Hope this helps.

I also only like glass. Can’t stand plastic lenses. Glass makes a big difference for me.

Maui Jim glass lens, hands down. I like Costa too but, in my opinion, Maui Jims are higher quality.
