Picked up a new Ruger Hawkeye M77 from Larry’s the other day. I’ve always been drawn to rifles with a Mannlicher stock so it caught my eye right away. When I saw it was a short barrel 22-250 I was a little disappointed and put it back on the rack. Later that night I got curious about it and looked it up on the Lipsey’s site and found that its a 1:8 twist and I could be pushing a 70-ish grain bullet around 3200fps from its stubby barrel. Went back the next day and bought it. I picked up a Leupold VX3 2.5-8x36 on here and have a set of Warne QD rings on the way. Reloading stuff should be here this weekend and hoping to have a few test loads ready for the range by next weekend. Going to try some 65 grain Gamekings, 69 grain TGK, 70 grain accubond and maybe some 62 grain trophy bonded bear claw. Anyone loading heavy bullets in a fast 22 that have good luck on deer at the higher speeds? I had a Steyr .243 in a Mannlicher stock. I could never bring myself to hunt with it. It was too pretty! I’m tough on my hunting guns. That’s a beautiful Ruger!

That's awesome, and glad Ruger put a faster twist than the 1-14". I bought a fast twist Bergara a few years back to be able to shoot the heavier 22s. I've got an absolute pile of 22-250 brass if you need some.

Nice find. With that twist you could probably use the 88 ELDM and it would be a slayer.

Great rifle, I have a Ruger blued 308 that I will have till I am gone.
CZ rimfire are also part of the love for the design, enjoy.
Short and handy, mine is deadly and well used.

That's a beautiful rifle!! I have a Remington Mohawk 600 Mannlicher in .308. Built for Remington in Germany by Anschutz to try and break into the European Mannlicher market. The barreled actions were sent over for Anschutx to finish with the full stock. Europeans didn't take to them and these were then sold only at US military bases in the PX. It't not known if any were imported back to the US but several were brought back by returning servicemen. Less than 200 exist and I bought mine from a retired Air Force Airman in OCR. Those are nice guys, I’ve always liked them as well just never gotten one. The very first that ever got my attention was a Ruger 10/22 at Walmart probably 40 years ago. Unfortunately then I didn’t gun money

Ruger seems to do a really fine job of making rifles people want, albeit they're usually Lipseys exclusive and hard to find. Really wanted one of the Africans stamped 275 Rigby.

That is a damn fine looking rifle! This is the first #1 RSI I ever bought in 7x57. s/n 132-xxxxx ![[Linked Image from i.imgur.com]](https://i.imgur.com/box8Mqm.png) I topped it with a VX3 in 2.5-8x36 like you did. It's a fine shooting rig with handloads running Berger VLD-H and IMR4064. I love Mannlicher stocked rifles, just got to tinker with them to make sure they shoot. The thin barrel contour is sensitive to heat, as well as applied pressure. Good luck with your new rig, let us know how it shoots.

Can't think of the name of it but there is a gunshop in Brewton Alabama that has a lot of Mannlicher stock rifles right now. If you are looking for one he is a great guy to work with. If you need help finding it let me know. Just having a senior moment right now. LOL
