This is completely the opposite of what Iran expected

Their country was was hijacked in 79’ and that ideology has spread like a virus
Lebanon used to be a tourist destination and was called the Paris of the Middle East and now no one wants to visit there
From what I’m reading there are different ethnic groups that are beginning to fight back against the IRGC effectively making them fight on several different fronts and now that some of the Arab states are joining in the fray coupled with the continuing strikes by the US the IRGC may be overthrown soon I might be misunderstanding your post; but Iran is 99% Muslim. 90–95% shia, 5-10% sunni. Iran is the world's largest shia-majority country. Many of those counted as Muslim are not in the least They profess to be because it saves their lives

Prior to 1979 Iran was very much like a western culture. The populace hasn’t changed that much but under an oppressive Sharia regime they either profess their Muslim faith or they get dead. Back in the 70s you could walk into a country western bar in Iran and you’d think it’s Darby Montana.
I hate making a good first impression. There’s no way I can keep that shit up.
