Glad they broke off from public. Tville had some really good teams that went deep into playoffs - knocked off by private schools who bought a lot of players. Like saint james - they sucked badly for years - then school said - we gonna spend some $$ and everything changed. Wife had family that went there for years. Mobile christian hired somewhat famous ex college coach and spent the money. One year they had 10- 11 soon to be college players - in 3A 🤣🤣🤣. When they introdiced them - this is such and such - statted going to mobile christian in 9th grade - nice purchase!! Some super dummy on here said - u can recruit too 🤣🤣. Really?? Ever been to tville? Yea - we kind of poor! Ever seen tville? Yea - its kind of country and small. Meaning we lov it but most outside kids dont
Was very unfair. Kind of like what bama and uga did before nil was legal Jeez. They didn’t purchase any players Tdog. It’s a 3A private school in the 2nd biggest city in the state. And the public school system sucks in Mobile. So kids want to go to private schools here. And Ronnie Cottrell is not a somewhat famous anything. He coached at bama 2-3 years and was like the tight ends coach. He recruited for Bowden at FSU. But he wasn’t semi famous outside of people around south alabama knowing him. He’s from Brewton. Smaller schools in big cities are going to attract kids. In Mobile you get a bigger pool of athletes to pick from than you get in Thomasville. And that super dummy was correct. You can recruit too at Thomasville. Equal opportunity doesn’t mean equal outcome. Everyone plays by the same rules. It’s not everyone else’s fault Thomasville is poor. What happens when yall are in the playoffs and run into a rich city school that beats the brakes off of you? All their kids are in scholarships just like y’all’s are. You gonna cry about that too? You wanna take the rich public schools out of your league too to make it more fair for the little poor Thomasville players? This topic is the reason I pull for Jackson High School football team even though I have no ties to the school. I am sure there are some kids who moved to Jackson just to be part of the team that were wanted there because of their football talent but by and large most of those kids for Jackson are home grown and grew up there. The old school way of building a team and I like it.
