Hearing of a new private school association coming to Alabama. Basically AISA gonna focus on academics while the private schools in AHSAA leave and form new league. Thoughts?

Glad they broke off from public. Tville had some really good teams that went deep into playoffs - knocked off by private schools who bought a lot of players. Like saint james - they sucked badly for years - then school said - we gonna spend some $$ and everything changed. Wife had family that went there for years. Mobile christian hired somewhat famous ex college coach and spent the money. One year they had 10- 11 soon to be college players - in 3A 🤣🤣🤣. When they introdiced them - this is such and such - statted going to mobile christian in 9th grade - nice purchase!! Some super dummy on here said - u can recruit too 🤣🤣. Really?? Ever been to tville? Yea - we kind of poor! Ever seen tville? Yea - its kind of country and small. Meaning we lov it but most outside kids dont
Was very unfair. Kind of like what bama and uga did before nil was legal

Was very unfair. Kind of like what bama and uga did before nil was legal Jeez. They didn’t purchase any players Tdog. It’s a 3A private school in the 2nd biggest city in the state. And the public school system sucks in Mobile. So kids want to go to private schools here. And Ronnie Cottrell is not a somewhat famous anything. He coached at bama 2-3 years and was like the tight ends coach. He recruited for Bowden at FSU. But he wasn’t semi famous outside of people around south alabama knowing him. He’s from Brewton. Smaller schools in big cities are going to attract kids. In Mobile you get a bigger pool of athletes to pick from than you get in Thomasville. And that super dummy was correct. You can recruit too at Thomasville. Equal opportunity doesn’t mean equal outcome. Everyone plays by the same rules. It’s not everyone else’s fault Thomasville is poor. What happens when yall are in the playoffs and run into a rich city school that beats the brakes off of you? All their kids are in scholarships just like y’all’s are. You gonna cry about that too? You wanna take the rich public schools out of your league too to make it more fair for the little poor Thomasville players?

This topic is the reason I pull for Jackson High School football team even though I have no ties to the school. I am sure there are some kids who moved to Jackson just to be part of the team that were wanted there because of their football talent but by and large most of those kids for Jackson are home grown and grew up there. The old school way of building a team and I like it.

Most of the kids that play at the private schools are the same home grown from the large city that the school is in. Mobile, Birmingham, and Huntsville are huge compared to Jackson so with more population in the area, naturally there will be more talent. The problem the metro area schools have that schools like Jackson don’t have is that there are 20 schools within a 30 mile radius competing for the same talent.

We had family at one of the schools - they decided to get good and spent $$ - had sucked for ever before that at saint james! Heck - mobile christian said where they were from - most all college players were from out of town 🤣🤣. Some were from way out of town! Of course some private schools pay players! Was pretty common knowledge they bought em - geez 🤣🤣. We were playing with home grown boys that grew up together! And all the complaints over it is why it stopped

Heck - just called some coaches in diff areas - the buy thing is pretty common knowledge. Mobile christian even got some recruiting violations !!🤣🤣 Heck - i coach against ronnie - will talk to him about it next time i around him. When all your college players are from diff areas when they introduce at highschool game and most all joining in 9th grade - $. Changed hands - i just confirmed it which was not necessary - everybody knows it
Heck - we won baseball state anyway against baseball preppies private school. Only second time public has won it in 3a last 22 years - one of my best friends coaches it. All the coaches i talk to said public thought it was unfair and private even admitted it unfair and private usually got jacked up in classification after winning it all which they did not like. They trying this for 2-3 years now as trial period
Your welcome

That Hwy 43 (-ish) corridor has produced some insane high school football teams throughout the decades. Starting at Leroy, then to Jackson, Thomasville, Sweetwater (the ish part), and up to Linden has had strong football as long as my 56 year old mind can remember.

Your welcome Well since I know most of the kids that played at MC for Ronnie I know that’s a lie. I’ve never heard of any private school in Mobile paying players. It’s crazy what you public school people dream up and believe as true. Mobile Christian had some transfer violations. Not recruiting violations. It’s pretty common for that to happen in metro areas. You are delusional sir. I don’t know if 1 private school coach that believes private schools in the AHSAA are treated fairly. With the multiplier, competitive balance, and city public schools allowing students from outside of the city limits to pay to attend school there, private schools have been putting up with bull crap rules for awhile just so we don’t have to travel across the state to play competitive teams. But yall whined and cried enough that you got what you want. Yall go play your playoff brackets against the other public schools. Yall will run into a city school with money that will beat you and then what? Who you gonna blame then? Basically you have said, “It’s not fair that the parent pool their money together and create a good sports team. We aren’t going to do that so it’s not fair. We would rather play other schools that choose that, and let all the schools that raise enough money to have better teams than us play each other. We will be the “B” class schools.” So when your teams win a state championship, it won’t really be a state championship. Because the other bracket will have the better teams in it. What a great thing for your kids. Everyone gets a trophy mentality. Delusional.

Pwyse - you are correct - it was not a recruiting violation - i was told it was but i looked it up. Public on public has always made more sense. Our kids actually grew up playing pee wee ball together! And ronnie has always been nice to me by the way! And maybe yall were miraculosuly fortunate to hav a ton of 9th graders move into your area all at once! They announced the team and most of the college to be players they announced - this is such and such - he came to mobile christian as a 9th grader - one of the guys was from Canada 🤣🤣 Maybe they were not recruited - but folks in stands were laughing and u can take your jabs - but if u listen to what i am saying - u would think recruiting was going on too! Maybe the Good Lord blessed u with a pile of 9th graders from different areas all in the same year 🤣🤣🤣 Mobile christian could beat most 5 A teams that year! Prob all of them! When me and my wife walked on the field and i saw that team - i said we fixing to get killed and we had a really good team! She was pissed at me - then i explained what i was seeing and that was before a snap was ever taken
And if the shoe was on the other foot and u saw all these boys grow up together - then play a private league that was not even supposed to be there (and i went to a private school) - we had no resources - no advantages - use what u got! And that about public and private coaches not thinking it fair - that comment came from many pubkic and private coaches alike!! And me telling u when we win state in baseball and that only the second time public achool did that in 22 years cause private had all the money and resources and talent. That statement says or screams disadvantage
I am extremely competitive - i like to play folks in golf better than me - but many of your own private league coaches said it was not fair. Back in day when we fielded 80 and were 5A we could smoke Mobile - but tville a shell of what use to be
Not worth arguing Pwyse! Having a new league come in that way bigger than u w way more athlete's resources and college coaches would never make a public school happy. Like brining sec to the acc - not gonna go well for acc - but ACC shoukd love it huh 🤣🤣🤣
Hav good day man - not worth the argue - congrats on having a team that should hav been 5A
Amd jackson is usually loaded with athlete's on the above posts

I didn’t coach at MC. I coached at another private school in Mobile. I know what team you are talking about. They were good, but 5A is a different animal. And you are correct, private schools do get an influx of students (not just athletes but students in general) most of them are local to Mobile. The reason for this is families don’t want their kids to attend the Mobile County Public School System high schools. Most of them are terrible. This is why the public schools in the suburbs surrounding Mobile have started their own city school systems. Almost every family in the MCPSS would rather their kids go to a private school here. Or a city school. Private schools don’t have to recruit. Do they recruit within the AHSAA rules? Of course. All the schools here do. I understand your point of view. When Thomasville has a team of kids that played pee wee together come up through the school system, you want everyone to have to do the same thing. But in metro areas we t just don’t work like that. There are 20 different teams for kids to play pee wee football here. We have middle schools that feed into 2 or 3 different high schools. Kids might live in in the same middle school district but live in different high school districts.
The problem I have with your point of view and the path the AHSAA has taken is that you think separation between public and private will solve the problem. It won’t. There will always be disparity between poor schools and rich schools. Whether they get their money from taxes or parents doesn’t matter.
You are correct about 3A baseball. That stat that you gave is the backbone argument of why they separated public and private. But that stat in that sport in that class is not the norm across the board. It is an anomaly. So the question has been asked, if that is true in 3A, why isn’t it true across the board in all sports?

We just dont like losing 🤣🤣
I see your point - if we lived in same area - we likely would do same thing - rough schools in area. I never thought of that!
Clarke prep in grove hill has taken several good white athletes from us in spurts over last several years also - but they still suck in team sports overall.

Clarke prep in grove hill has taken several good white athletes from us in spurts over last several years also - but they still suck in team sports overall. I apologize for getting worked up about it Tdog. This is a topic I’m very passionate about obviously. I appreciate you voicing your point of view and even though we disagree on this thing that’s ok. You still a cool dude and I would help you in anyway possible. “Someone took them” is one way to look at student transfers. “We lost them” is a better way to look at it in my opinion. And believe me the school I coached at lost plenty of them. To other private schools and public schools. And it’s good you don’t like losing. Show me a good loser and I’ll show you a loser lol. There has been quite a few meetings among private schools (AHSAA and AISA members) about uniting and starting a new association apart from the AHSAA. If this happens, I think that we will see the AHSAA become a very crappy association eventually. Especially if the new association allows public schools to join. Remember that the AHSAA is not a state ran association. It’s a private entity. Public schools don’t have to belong to it. Good programs want to play against good competition.
