Like last year for those of you in Northwest Alabama, I am going to do a band fundraiser, ( I have 3 girls in the band and sponsor/help with it) To help cover the cost I have fixed a dove field in my hayfield. I planted strips of WMS dove magnet and Brown Top Millet in May, I will begin spraying, mowing, and burning them over the last 3 weeks of August and will disk some of the outside bands and will top sew wheat on them working my way in to the center of the field by the Saturday before season. The field is about 30 acres, and we should be able to fit 15-20 shooters.
Different this year we will shoot two days opening Saturday 1-til about an hour before dark and Sunday as well. I am not sure on the time for Sunday will probably pole those who sign up and pick hours based on the consensus.
I will include a BBQ sandwich, chips, desert, and drink for lunch prior to the hunt Saturday and will either do BBQ chicken or burgers Sunday will also have hotdogs for the kids who prefer those both days. I will have lunch ready at noon, and we can start shooting about 1:00 on Saturday and TBD on Sunday. Since we are doing a two day shoot this year we would appreciate a $200 donation per stand. Last year we had several kids which was awesome and hope to again this year. Please use your own judgment on stands and shooters.
We will have plenty of water iced down and my girls will be helping with things through out the day.
This is to be a family event, absolutely no alcohol, or rude behavior please!
It’s early but we already have resident birds on the field, eating last years wheat, foxtail from the WMS and hay seed. I plan to add a power line and decoys to better balance out the field from last year as well.
The field will be as legal of a field as possible, documented planting and drone footage at each step of the burn and phased top sewing to make sure (check our last years footage for an idea of the setup it’s posted under my name on this site).
The game wardens stopped by last year and I expect them again this year so be sure your guns and license are upto date. Additionally we will require a liability waiver at sign in like last year and will have safety glasses and ear plugs for those who might need them.
If you have questions or want to reserve a spot shoot me PM we will draw stands based on the order of sign up like last year. If things go to plan and matches last year we should have plenty of birds especially with the number of resident birds already there.
The field is west of Hamilton in the Shottsville area.
Thank you to all of those who supported this last year we are looking for another good shoot this year and will make a donation to the site again as well for Skinny allowing me to post it.

Gentlemen thank you for all those who have signed up this far. We spent last night in the ER but they were able to repair my daughters central line so will see how it goes please pray she doesn’t get an infection from it as it’s an increase risk for the next 30 days.
Here is the list I have thus far. If you ask a question I will respond in a few minutes but I put you in as a place holder until I hear back from you and then will begin adding people again as they sign up.
Shotts, just seeing this. Can you please put me in for 3?
