Happy to report that I never owned or drove a Yugo.
Other than cars I bought for my wife and daughters, the only “car” I’ve ever personally owned was an 87 Pontiac Grand Prix.
I’ve always driven trucks. Still do.
I hate making a good first impression. There’s no way I can keep that shit up.

87 Grand Prix was a very nice ride back in the day. I had one. Sunroof leaked like hell.
I worked at a gas station in Midfield when I was a teenager. The Yugo dealer nearby would pay the gas station owner to have us pick them up, fuel them and return them.
They sucked balls. But after we earned his trust, we got to do the same for some of his sports car collection too. Was shocked to find the yugo and corvette road about the same.
Character is not developed in moments of temptation and trial. That is when it is intended to be used.

I drove one once just to see and it was like driving in a cardboard box with loud lawn mower motor rattling everything. The seats were basically foam padded hard plastic like what you find in the DMV waiting room.

My sunroof leaked too. But at the same time I also had a Jeep CJ5 with a soft top. That was akin to driving a cheap tent, so the leaky sunroof was an upgrade. 🤣

My grandfather had two I can remember a red one and a white one. He had them when setting the pilings for the original Biloxi casinos. Rode on the barge with the crane until he would get to port, then he would crane it off and had a run around vehicle. I was young but I believe he had a cradle it drove on and off to lift it. Still remember people looking at us strangely when I rode in it bc they would see him on his bag phone in the Yugo. Phone probably cost more than the car back then…. Would have been around 1990 timeframe. When the tug and crane wasn’t working he would let me drive it around his property. I was 10ish. lol. In hindsight sight I guess I learned how to drive a stick in it…

Do yall remember those Volkswagen Rabbits? Little diesel cars? My grandfather had about 20 of them he would pull parts from and he would buy them broke and flip them. Very simple engines.

My father was a used car dealer. Had a car lot just North of Anniston on Hwy 431. Best I remember, he absolutely wouldn't have one on his lot. If someone traded one in, he wholesaled it.
