Y'all do realize that the IEA was the one that decided to do this latest 400 million barrel "world" SPR drawdown, and it wasn't just Trump deciding to do it on a whim to help with gas prices, like some simpletons like to think. The IEA has 32 UN member countries that participated. Once again, we have one of the largest reserves so when the US once again gives our proportionate share, we give more than the rest of the members, the majority of which hate us. I guess Trump could have said, "no, we are not participating" but he was not the one that made the call on the release/drawdown. I'm guessing that we are obligated by treaty to participate.

Petroleum profits .....large profits as you already know.

I'm wanting a GMC 1500 3.0 Baby Duramax as a replacement for my gas burner that I unloaded before the lifters failed again.
But I'm holding tight with these diesel prices.

Hate it for the farmers not just on the diesel, but fertilizer prices as well.

Why didn’t you include the important part of that news story?

U.S. President Donald Trump requested that the International Energy Agency (IEA) conduct a coordinated release of oil from strategic reserves to combat soaring energy prices

But what does a simpleton know?

Here’s the whole story from the Department of Energy:

U.S. President Donald Trump requested that the International Energy Agency (IEA) conduct a coordinated release of oil from strategic reserves to combat soaring energy prices. The IEA's 32 member nations unanimously agreed to this request, announcing a historic release of 400 million barrels of oil and refined products from their national stockpiles. As part of this international effort, President Trump authorized the U.S. Department of Energy to release 172 million barrels from the U.S. Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR).

You sure that is not just more DJT propaganda, trying to make it look like he's saved the day? Where he's lying and claiming credit for something someone else suggested and he was only a minor part of the decision? Americans wanted gas down and Trump wanted to look like he's doing something to help?

That's exactly what you'd normally say about it, but since everyone, including me, is 100% against it and thinks it's foolish to have done it so early in the conflict and wasted that silver bullet, it's now gospel and Trump and the Energy department are all telling the truth for the first time ever. LOL

Y'all have said repeatedly that you cannot trust anything that the department of energy or Trump says about oil and that everything they do is all about making $$ trading on energy. So why believe it now?

Because the SPR has now been drawn down so dangeroulsy low by this administration it does make one thing very clear.

It means that this administration went into this war unprepared for a full closure of the strait.
They should have had the SPR completely filled and topped off before taking any action. Also, they should have had more oil and refining capability up and running before taking any action.

Whether they started this conflict for good reasons or not can be debated. But the fact that they did it without thinking this part through shows a clear failure of planning. They could have waited a year to get their sh1t together before putting us and the World into an energy crisis.

SPR is currently sitting at 312 million bbls (it should stay full at all times). You do realize that Biden drew it down to around 340 million bbls in July of 2023 and there wasnt even a war or any type of oil shortage. Very little difference in inventory. So what is different now, that makes things so much more catastrophic? Yep, there's a conflict in the middle east. Happens every 3-5 yrs for one reason or another. Oil production is up and at record levels everywhere around the globe, except for what has to be transported through the strait. Summer ends in about 45 days and oil still has not gotten even close to your predicted $200/bbl by summer. I havent seen any gas rationing at any of the local stations. Tell me, is the sky still falling?

Y'all need to chill. We can produce and process what we need as a country, with or without any outside help. There is always the option to stop selling internationally, and keep it all in country, if it were to become necessary. I'm way more worried about chips, electronic components, medicinal input chemicals and ingredients, and stuff like that, that we can no longer quickly produce domestically, due to the US, in it's infinite stupidity, offshoring it in favor of establishing a global supply chain. I'm way more worried about what would happen if China completely cut the US off, than I am about oil.

My opinion? Go with the 6.2L gas engine. It’s the only GM engine that doesn’t have some type of cylinder deactivation AFM programming.
It’s reliable, powerful and most importantly it’s a lot of cubic inches. There is no replacement for displacement. Today’s diesel fuel is shit, absolute garbage. The little Mickey Mouse diesels rely heavily on turbo or double turbo which is nothing more than a money pit. There is no replacement for displacement. There is no replacement for displacement. There is no replacement for displacement. 👍

Unless you know something GM doesn't know?

GOOGLE: Yes, the 2026 GM 6.2L V8 engine comes equipped with Dynamic Fuel Management (DFM). This is GM's advanced cylinder deactivation system that allows the engine to run on anywhere from two to eight cylinders depending on the driving conditions and power demand, saving fuel when cruising.

GM has not produced a mass-market 6.2L engine without fuel management since the previous generation (L86) was discontinued in 2018, though aftermarket companies offer upgrades to disable the DFM system.

Plus the manufacturer recommends Premium gas at $4.16 - $4.56 a gallon in central AL.

I’m sorry it’s the 6.6L currently in the 2500 and above. Hell, I don’t keep up with new stuff cause I can’t afford any of it. My old 95 Tahoe has the 5.7 and my 2007 Denali has the 6.2 (no AFM) and my 98 Dodge got the 5.9 magnum. There is no replacement for displacement. There is no replacement for displacement. There is no replacement for displacement.

Why GM left the the full time 8 cyl 5.7 is beyond me.

I know..... driven by EPA requirements, but none of them get over 15-16 mpg avg. in 1/2 ton trucks or SUV.
Now they all want to go smaller V6 or V4 and put turbo on it.... or better put two on it.

The old 5.7 motor is the best motor (most dependable) they've made. Had one in the wife's Yukon and never had the first problem out of it. Kids drove it like they stole it, once they got old enough to drive. Still running strong when I sold it.

I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer, but isn't this Trump deal a decent way to handle some of the draw down? I did find this info with GROK.

How the Trump-Era SPR Exchanges Work
Structure: These are emergency exchanges/loans to oil companies (e.g., BP, ExxonMobil, Shell, Marathon, Trafigura, Vitol, etc.), not direct deals with foreign oil-producing states. Companies receive SPR crude now to help stabilize markets/supply during disruptions (e.g., the 2026 Iran-related conflict affecting the Strait of Hormuz).
Repayment terms: Borrowers must return the full original volume plus a premium of extra barrels (typically 18–28% more, or examples like 1.25 barrels returned per 1 borrowed). This is designed to net increase SPR inventory at no net cost to taxpayers.9f7bc9
Energy

Premiums are in the form of additional physical crude oil delivered later (e.g., 2027–2029 timelines).
DOE has projected adding ~35–40 million extra barrels net from these deals amid the ~172 million barrel release coordinated with IEA partners.78e6fa
Reuters

Purpose: Address short-term supply/price spikes from events like the Iran conflict (part of a broader ~400 million barrel IEA-coordinated action). Deliveries happen quickly; returns are scheduled to avoid market strain.e0a760

Seems like a good deal if the war had only lasted a month like we were told.
Problem is the tanks are basically empty now

GM is bringing back the 5.7L for the 2027 GMC And Chevy 1500’s and also the 6.6L is going to be an option in the 2027 1500’s as well. GM is retiring the 6.2L and 5.3L after 2026.

Again, we go back to point A. We wouldn't have this problem if Trump had not started this war or at least have waited to be properly prepared for the closure of the strait. Now its both straits.

I’m going to make the assumption that the president of the United States has slightly better intel than those of us surfing across a deer hunting website. My only complaint, so far, is that he hasn’t arrested Hussein Obama and Hillary Clinton for treason.
