I’ve just about had them all (except a revolver) and the answer for me was a pocket 380.
I REALLY liked my 43x but I got to where I never carried it. I can always find a place for a 380 but not so with a 9.
I find myself NEVER leaving home without a 380.

The bodyguard 2.0 imo is the best conceal pistol on the market.
Right behind it is the Ruger LCP single stack. The double stack has been replace with the bodyguard.
I own multiples of each, and carry them depending.

Good luck!

I've always thought it was minimal. The M&P40 is a great defensive pistol, IMHO. Mine is an old original model purchased in 2011.

40 doesn't have much flip at all.

I like .40. Carried a Beretta 96G .40 as my duty gun for 6.5 years before we went Glock 37 45 gap. Always liked carrying a 180 grain .40 vs old 115 grain 9 mm. Nice alternative to 45 auto which is my favorite.

Good point, I find myself carrying my pocket 380 more and more.

The extra knockdown power is always reassuring, that's for sure
