I recon I asked for it. Recently said I didn't have to worry about deer in my garden

Two days ago I found a pepper plant completely stripped of leaves

Today I found 3 maters with many leaves stripped and one mater had a bite out of it.

Wife is picking up repellant at Home Depot.

I'm also purchasing two motion activated sprinklers to setup.

Any other suggestions? It's happening at night. I work too hard to be up all night watching or I'd just stop it permenantly.

Any other ideas?

Well shit. The photos of horn worm damage look just like the tomato.

I sprayed everything heavily today with two different pesticides and a pest repellent.

Is that effective on horn worms?

I owe you a huge thank you. Found two horn worms tonight. Both about 5" long.

I ordered two black lights and we will continue to look for them. I sprayed the very plants they were on, but the pesticide apparently doesn't control them.

They’ve been whooping my butt this year. We went to the beach a couple weeks ago for several days and got my son to come water plants for us. We got back and several plants almost didn’t have any leaves. Basically set the plants back a month and I can’t even remember how many I’ve picked off and killed since then.

And I think sevins dust will work on them.

I prefer the seven spray over the dust. Spray your plants good , theyll be dead in a few hours

BT or spinosad.
I usually alternate between the two. Works way better than sevin, on any type of caterpillars.
The spinosad also works well, on other types of pests. The BT is for worms (caterpillars) only.

I usually use the liquid seven but have heard the same thing BearBranch mentioned and need to try it. The black light is effective for the horn worms as well. Crazy how quick they can take a plant out

On the original post, my deer repellent is a Speedrite 1000 1 joule charger and 1200ft of PowerPro tape for my blueberries and muscadines. For the peppers which are just off the porch, I did have to put up a few fiberglass step in posts and some neon green survey tape to ward off the one tame, pettable doe. That simple solution has worked for her and none of the wild/normal deer will dare get that close to the house.

But yeah horn worms will get you quick. So far I’ve had none in my peppers but I need to order a black light and have it ready just in case. For the pesticide you probably want something that can mist and pump it up in a way that can spray up under to the bottom side of the leaves rather than just spraying the top. My pepper plants are so big and leafy now it’s a PITA to spray them but I haven’t sprayed anything on them in probably 2 months because they are all constantly flowering.

Yeah I have a 3D fence so it’s two strands on the inner and one strand on the outer, for any extra stubborn deer. But I have those aluminum bottle cap things with the cotton in them, and the wires running out to tie to the power tape. I poured some apple scent in each of the caps (one per side of the square fence) and I’ve not had even a single deer even think about going in that fence so far. No cameras in the fence itself but a camera at the muscadines and blueberries and the most I’ve seen is a rabbit. I bought a roll of power wire to put an extra strand at the bottom of the fence to help keep them out too, but haven’t gotten around to it yet.

I live in a very high deer density area. I have a 6' high, 6 strand electric fence. Alternating hot and ground strands starting with hot on the bottom. Can't get through it without touching both hot and ground. Garden wouldn't make it through the first night without it. Tester reading about 8000v. It will get your attention
