Are they producing though? My shortest peppers out produce my tallest. I don't equate tall and pretty and green with success. For me, it's about the produce. Large, with large quantities. Otherwise, I might as well be flower gardening.
Not being rude, went through the same thing last year. I don't care how tall. Preferably 3' with tons of large peppers.
Mine are in grow bags and not in the ground with compost but my method is to fertilize them with something balanced or slightly higher nitrogen but then as soon as they start putting blooms and fruiting I switch it to liquid 5-10-10 which slows the stalk growth back a bit and leans more into the blooms and fruit. It’s worked pretty good so far.
One day I’m gonna get into composting but my main plants are all acid loving and you gotta be careful with stuff like Black Kow or the like. Maybe I can make a high acidity compost pile.
