So will tags help in enforcement?
That all depends on the penalty for not tagging one and if anyone is given a ticket for it……If those things happen then after a while it becomes more about a cultural change and it being seen as “wrong” not to tag one…..Really we already see it that way for the most part but its just too easy for folks to hide it right now…..The thing that separates tags from just writing it down or calling it in is that its blatantly obvious to EVERYONE who’s sees it when a buck isnt tagged…… If you ride around with a buck in the back of your buggy that isnt tagged or bring one back to camp and hang it up….you’re announcing it to everyone else….The guy in the neighboring club you pass on the way in….the other club members…..the game warden……everyone….. That, along with the risk of a penalty is what would get the vast majority to adhere to bag limits……
Just my opinion but I think if you want the fine for not tagging to actually matter then it needs to be more than just monetary…..It needs to be a dollar amount plus the loss of some privilege…..like the loss of your license for one year……basically the forfeit of 3 bucks tags for trying to cheat on 1
