If we are going to have a bag limit, which is fine with me as I rarely kill more than 1-2 bucks a season anyway, we might as well have a real system which would include tags. Real physical tags with some sort of personal identification on them And then the consequences of violation needs to be memorable. Otherwise just go back to a buck a day and forget about it. Like I said wouldn’t affect me either way.

DEER TAGS. Who's in favor of 'em? Yes, I'm serious. Against. Reason is you or the processor would still have to turn them in and if doing your own meat you would have still have to do some sort of "game check" like now if the state was to receive information of number, sex, when and where killed.

If we are going to have a bag limit, which is fine with me as I rarely kill more than 1-2 bucks a season anyway, we might as well have a real system which would include tags. Real physical tags with some sort of personal identification on them And then the consequences of violation needs to be memorable. Otherwise just go back to a buck a day and forget about it. Like I said wouldn’t affect me either way. This ^^^^……We’re at an absurd place right now with it where half the folks follow the rules and the other half do what they want……Either get rid of the 3 buck limit or enforce it…..Its ridiculous for the honest folks to follow the rules only to give the dishonest folks more to shoot…..If someone is going to be honest and adhere to the limit then they should be able to reap the benefits of doing such through improved quality…..Many areas arent able to do that because they’re full of folks shooting as many bucks as they want to.....It just is what it is

Enforcing it is very hard either way. Clean it at camp and head home. Have a bubby that don’t hunt deer check it in. Just don’t check it in. I know of a couple 3 guys that kill 4-5 a year. Never use the apps and never pay no bait fee. Country living off the land folks.

So will tags help in enforcement? That all depends on the penalty for not tagging one and if anyone is given a ticket for it……If those things happen then after a while it becomes more about a cultural change and it being seen as “wrong” not to tag one…..Really we already see it that way for the most part but its just too easy for folks to hide it right now…..The thing that separates tags from just writing it down or calling it in is that its blatantly obvious to EVERYONE who’s sees it when a buck isnt tagged…… If you ride around with a buck in the back of your buggy that isnt tagged or bring one back to camp and hang it up….you’re announcing it to everyone else….The guy in the neighboring club you pass on the way in….the other club members…..the game warden……everyone….. That, along with the risk of a penalty is what would get the vast majority to adhere to bag limits…… Just my opinion but I think if you want the fine for not tagging to actually matter then it needs to be more than just monetary…..It needs to be a dollar amount plus the loss of some privilege…..like the loss of your license for one year……basically the forfeit of 3 bucks tags for trying to cheat on 1

I'm not against tagging. I've used them in other states and I don't understand the resistance by Alabama hunters to a tag system. But in order to enforce it we need more Green Jeans, which requires more money, which means increasing license fees. That's gonna create a whole other discussion......

We’ve been having tags here in Louisiana for a LONG time. I don’t kill near as many deer as I used to when I was younger. I still scratch one up about every year. In all the years we’ve had tags, I’ve never been checked by game wardens and we have way more wardens than Alabama. Like AU338MAG I’ve also hunted other states with a tagging system and non were any kind of inconvenience at all. Tags in Alabama wouldn’t phase me at all.
It's hard to kiss the lips at night that chews your a$$ all day long.

Alabama ( Montgomery) can't manage tags, they'd screw it up. So I'm a BIG NO.

Aren’t the current pay to play costs and rules enough for us? We want to have permission slips attached to each deer before moving it. Then go back and beg for more permission slips from the ruling elites. Becoming so costly and bureaucratic that the average citizen can’t participate without breaking a rule.

How many people in here objecting to tags have actually hunted in a state that required them? I’ve hunted in several over the years and never found them to be a problem. They are an enforcement tool like any other but I have found in Illinois, you DO NOT want to get caught with a deer without a tag. That’s the first thing the processors and taxidermists ask for.

Not just Illinois. It’s most Midwest states. Missouri takes their tags VERY serious. They don’t mess around.
