This is certainly an interesting development...

Farmers helped Bayer out by defending glycosyphate before the senate and now Bayer wants tariffs on cheap Chinese gly...

Farm groups helped Bayer over RoundUp court case. Bayer now calls for tariffs on its key ingredient | Fortune https://share.google/rTD817Ig5bm551AwQ

Monsanto (Bayer) has always been a truly evil company. Its not worth the bandwidth to find links to everything that damn company has done over the decades but its a long damn list. This move is right in line with the kinds of things that they would do.
The thing about this is that China would be happy to trade their cheap gly for our cheap soy and corn which would reduce prices and increase productivity for both sides of that trade.
Now Bayer cant have that because they are just being flat out crony capitalists who want to corner the market.

I had an uncle that lived in Cantonment and worked for Monsanto there in the lab. Good dude and fun to golf with. He gave me my first beer when I was but a tike. His son, my cousin, was a butthole from the day he was born until the day he died though. I really felt sorry for the both of them.

Look up how they sued farmers who wouldn't plant their GMO round-up ready corn.

Governor, you’re exactly right on Monsanto. Every farmer knows they hold too many keys to profitable production and we are competing against cheaper producers in Argentina and Brazil that pay a fraction of what the American farmers pay for their technology not to mention the other chemical companies that are selling to them cheaper than what we can buy for. Good article this week on Agweb has a nice summary of what we pay vs Brazil and Argentina.

They also sued farmers for planting RoundUp Ready seed, from the previous year’s harvested crop, without paying the technology fee (paid on each new bag of seed, at the time)….and won.

I do. It was a jaw-dropper (farmers’). Most everybody I know operates(ed) under the assumption that they’ve paid the Tech Fee when they planted the seed they bought. Once harvested it belongs to “me” to do with as I wish….sell, replant, use for feed, etc. Nope! WTF?!?!?
Seems like I remember the lower end of 20-25million was won by Monsanto.
