Since we're bitching about traffic.... If you're at a four lane intersection, and are planning on going straight across, get in the left lane so others can take a right on red and not have to wait through an entire traffic cycle. What if I need to turn right into a driveway immediately after going through the intersection? I actually had a guy lose his crap on me a while back in traffic because I was "blocking the right lane" where he couldn't turn right on red, because I was going straight. The driveway I was turning into was maybe 50' past the intersection...

I think the metric system would have been fine if it had been implemented prior to 1785. Once our country decided to divide the land using the English system it was too late to switch to the metric. A Section of land is one square mile, and there is no way to redo millions of deeds into oddball metric numbers. Because of that, it was all but impossible to truly implement the metric system. The most we could have done was to implement a confusing hybrid of the two. I think whatever advantages the metric system would have brought us were outweighed by the disadvantages. Apparently most Americans agree with me as we have resisted every attempt to force it upon us.

I like the round abouts not having to stop is great, now that piece of road engineering in OB at 161 intersection and beach road is a piece of work

I understand the hate for the roundabouts but they're here to stay.
They are provend ot almost eleminate fatalitys at intersections becasue it eleminates the left turn infont of oncoming traffic, also the same reason you are starting to see the diverging diamond interchanges showing up.
They also do improve traffic flow, I can vouch for that first hand. they installed one at the intersection down the street from my office. Before traffic would back up 40-50 cars deep every afternoon with people trying to turn left at the stop sign. Doesn't happen at all anymore. That might be what they tell you the reason is, but the true and real reason they exist is like I said earlier, they save money. It all comes down to money like it always does and your inconvenience doesn't matter. All the other things you say might be true, but that is not the real reason they have become popular in traffic control.
Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

I used to have to deal with this all the time at Dallas and Hooper heading back from work. I tried and tried to figure out what law they broke so I could deal with it, but never could come up with anything reasonable. Like I was taught early in my career and passed it on many times, Dumbassery in itself, isn't a crime.

Funny you mention that intersection. When I was 16 a lady was in the far left side of Hooper Drive, facing the cemetery. I am in the right hand lane turning right. Light changes and I turn right and she does too. Right into me. Since that day I refuse to make that intersection two lane.
