My wife's aunt was having issues with hers. And they told her she needed a new unit for around $11,000. I called Brown's and they sent out a guy to check it. A loose wire outside was causing the issue. They charged her $250 to fix it. See, that's when I'd publicly put that company on blast and make sure EVERYONE I could possibly reach heard about it.
