Buddy just had his bow restrung and a new peep. A different peep. Some type of tubular peep. Supposedly the new thing.
I have no idea. He normally shoots it really really good. But now his groups at 40 are pie plate size. He’s been shooting for a month now a few times a week. And still no change. He said the only thing he can think of is his peep sight has a different look to it. It does not match up with his bow sight. Says there’s light between the sight and the peep. Could this cause inaccuracy? 20/30 are good. But 40 is horrendous. That’s the only thing that’s been changed. Could something be up with the string. It shoots bullet holes paper tuned.

Bigger peep hole than he had origally. Makes a big difference. Too much wiggle room in his aiming point. My best guess.

Love a good hunting story, love my family and friends. Some people you can't, but acted like do.

If he’s seeing daylight around his sight at full draw that is definitely the problem. Sounds like he got a Hamskea Raptor peep. If he has the version that the aperture can be swapped out, he needs to put a smaller aperture in it. If it can’t be swapped out, he needs a new peep. Another option is his sight. If his sight can be adjusted in or out from the bow riser, he needs to move it in. Just be aware that moving your sight in or out from the bow will change the pin gaps and the sight tape marks.

He either needs to go to an 1/8” or 5/32”. He can also move the sight towards the bow if he can. The Raptor is a great peep. That’s what I have on my hunting setup. I use an 1/8”.
