Anyone else follow this guy or know him? He seems like a nice guy, but he’s always bashing folks for doing what they want with there land. If you spray herbiced or don’t let some wild pussywillow grow your a bad person. I get that he don’t want “wild” weeds and grasses gone. But wth does he judge people for doing what they want for on their property. Maybe I’m over reading it??

He’s pushing a sales pitch. You buy it or don’t. So many people I talk to in my business have been hit with sales pitches that they usually don’t want to hear one when I go to talk to them. That woods fellow sales grain drills.

Is that the older guy who just cuts random trees and calls it management? Mainly just native grasses and no herbicides etc etc. Be hard to make a living farming just off natural native grasses I think.

Rare ecosystems being lost… maybe it’s for a reason. I get where he is pushing his stuff, but most open grasslands are for farming, and it’s just not feasible to farm it like we did 75-100 years ago. Just no way to do it.

Just no way to do it. I wish there were more people like him. Trying he's best to preserve an ecosystem. It can still be done. Joel Salatin and others still do it. Rotational grazing and no spraying of any kind. It has become a real touchy subject the last few years. Everyone gets defensive and says don't cuss a farmer with your mouth full, but refuse to acknowledge that many could do better. Some people refuse to admit that there are bad farmers, just like there's bad doctors, bad cops, or any other professions. Some people don't understand (Not referring to you) that losing any ecosystem is bad. Like people that don't care about a darter or snail because it's holding up progress. Sorry, a snail may verry well be more important than another strip mall or dollar store. You never know, the cure for cancer could be found there.

I feel like it’s his shtick to get views. He obviously is in it for the attention under the guise of “I’m a good guy for the environment. Please invite me onto your podcast.” That’s the gist I get from him. For the record, I don’t disagree with his opinions mostly, but I feel like he’s in it for nefarious reasons at times based on his social media presence.

I got no problem with his views in general. let the roadside wild flowers grow instead of smashing 'em with herbicides, for example. yeah, ya gotta do some roadside mowing to clear traffic lines of sight. but cutting stuff to be cutting it, and spraying it to be spraying it: I don't wanna live on/in a golf course. the native stuff can be saved in strips and stripes and private property where the owners want it done. I despise pine monoculture, but hey, it ain't my land . if we returned south Alabama to pre-white man status, it would be a gigantic cane break with occasional loblolly pine copses all the way to the coastal wetlands ...

I think it's because the more views he gets, the more people know. I've communicated with him before and even talked on the phone with him once. He doesn't come off that way at all. I think he truly cares. We were trying to figure out something to rally conservatives to do more for the environment. It's something I'm fairly passionate about as well. As outdoorsman, it seems that we miss the mark on this. A lot of times, a long as it doesn't effect said person's lease or property, they don't care. They don't look at the big picture and realize the damage we are doing. I want my kids and grandkids to have woods and rivers to play in.

But real estate sales has ruined and will continue to ruin more rural land than any “natural grasses” will ever make a difference. And I’m sure the guy means well on everything he pushes. I’ve actually learned a few things from him. But man that owns the land should do what he see fits. Even if it’s selling to a developer that some real estate agent found to ruin it. Still his land to do so with.

I've seen some farms lose 4-6 inches of elevation due to soil loss from poor farming practices over a 15 year period. Yearly deep sub soil tilling is hell on the land.

I agree that your land, my land, whoevers land is ours to do as we please. Sadly, as a society, we are no longer considering our neighbors, just what benefits us the best. People no longer care about each other. It's sad, and there are exceptions, but for the most part, people will sell out for their own selfish wants. I own 2 parcels of land and if I ever sell them, they will have restrictions written on them for no subdivisions, and no CAFOs. (Chicken houses, feed lots). I don't care what it does to the value. I don't want my neighbors having to deal with it.

I can buy it and agree to the restrictions, then sell it to my personal LLC with no restrictions. You are better off approaching the county or city about getting a zoning restriction put on the property.

I like Kyle and he’s done a lot to educate the general public on the importance of native ecosystems.

Take away the YouTube and the extreme dollars he charges to tell people that they can make &100,000 a year on their 2 acres and you just have someone that does what most every small homesteader has been doing forever. He found a product that people will pay pay big bucks for and is selling the crap out of it.

My wifes grandfather owned a lot of land. Over the years he sold or gifted many parts of it to others. On the promise they'd take care of that land.
One decided to open a junk yard on the land he was given. Now you have to drive past the damned junk yard to get to the livable areas.
Humans are assholes. As long as you understand they lie, cheat, steal and destroy, you're ok. Don't trust anyone not you. Everyone else will screw shit up every time.
I know that's not a great take on life. But it's damned accurate.
Character is not developed in moments of temptation and trial. That is when it is intended to be used.
