I have been wanting a suppressed hunting rifle set-up for a long time, so I am finally making it happen now.

Started out looking at the Liberty Rifle Integrally suppressed guns but finally decided to just do a rifle with an add on can. I have everything ordered except the can.

That is where I need some solid advice. This will be my first ever suppressor purchase and I'm trying to get educated but am severely lacking in suppressor knowledge.

I'm going to share the rifle set-up and what I am looking for in a suppressor.

Set-Up:

Rifle - Bergara B14 Ridge SP Barrel (18" length, threaded with cap) in .308 win.
Scope - Leupold VX5-HD Gen II 3-15 x 44MM Illuminated with Firedot Duplex.
Base/Rings - Talley one piece Lightweight aluminum in Medium height.
Hornady ammo butt pad holder and custom paracord sling.

Suppressor Criteria:

- Want to stay around a 5.5", 6" or 6.5" suppressor length so that I can maintain an overall 24" to 24.5" barrel length.
- Titanium construction for weight reduction.
- Direct thread 5/8"-24 compatible
- .30 caliber rated.
- Hunting ammo only, no subsonic.
- Maximum sound reduction as possible.
- 1X buy, buy right to start and don't have to buy again.
- Dedicated to this one rifle set-up, will not ever be taken on and off.
- This will be strictly dedicated as a hunting rig.

So far, here is what I have looked at:

- SilencerCo Scythe TI

- Bergara BTi30

- Banish Backcountry

- Banish Meateater

- Dead Air Nomad TI XC


Based upon my set-up and my suppressor criteria, what do you guys recommend? Something on my list above, or something else out there that you would suggest? Any on my list above to absolutely stay away from? Any experience from anyone with any of those on list above?

I want this to be a one time, one and done, purchase. I want to buy the right thing to begin with and not have to do it again later because I screwed up and didn't do my homework.

I love my Dead Air Nomad Ti. Just ordered another one.

I've got a Banish 22 and a Banish 30, I've been really happy with them. Banish 30 can run short or long, can't remember the dimensions off the top of my head. But their newer versions are likely ever better.

Liberty Suppressors over in Trenton GA is a top tier manufacturer and has a variety of centerfire suppressors. I have some of their rimfire cans that are great and would definitely buy from them again if I was in the market. I may eventually pick up one of their 30cal cans. Their Infinity X catches my attention as very lightweight and mostly titanium construction.

I'm old school in my choice of the only 30 caliber rifle can that I have. Mine is an OPS INC 3rd Model 30cal. OPS INC is now Allen Engineering and builds the same milspec suppressors that they did all the way back in the 1960s. Reflex (over the barrel) design is their specialty and it lessens the overall length that's added. Mine is 13" long but only half of that is foward of the muzzle and the remainder is back over the barrel. Sound wave cancelling technology has been the proprietary method of sound reduction from the start and it's pretty phenomenal. As I stated, these are military grade, extremely well made and heavy. Mine weighs 30oz but it will outlast several generations that come after I'm gone and it's guaranteed forever.

Sounds like a silencerco omega 300 with the flat cap and direct thread would fit the bill you described. If you would like to try one out let me know and we could meet at my range and put some through it. South Fayette County.

I got a B&T 7.62 titanium and love it! However things have gotten weird with them recently in the US. I think the Nomad Ti or the sandman x are great choices.

I run a Diligent defense on my 300 win mag hunting rifle

pewscience.com is a great resource, take a look at it before you buy. I run a Diligent Defense Enticer L-TI, it's a little longer than what you listed but only weighs 10.5 oz. It currently is listed as the #7 308 can on pewscience, at $865 it was my best choice. The #1 suppressor on their list is the PTR Vent 1, it's $1,400 and a couple oz heaver than my Enticer. I have mine on a Tikka roughtech ranch with a 16" barrel, it balances and carries well. I am really happy with the performance of it, you will want a lightweight cover to reduce the metallic ping sound it makes when hitting branches.

For hunting purposes only, any suppressor is far superior than a bare muzzle and you’ll be happy with whatever you choose.

Scythe-Ti is a great combination of sound reduction and lightweight. Yes there are reports of them failing but I have a buddy with over 4K rounds on one shooting 10-12 rounds strings in PRS.

Don’t over think it and just buy one….and it won’t be your last one either 😉

Griffin sportsman ultralight hd is my favorite. For what they cost you can get two compared to some of the other brands

I have 3 a 22,30, and a 46 all from silencer central the convenience of them sending it to your door helping fill out all the paper work and creating a trust is what sold me plus you can take the baffles out and put them in a sonic cleaner just don’t put them in there with brass cases I dis colored some lapua 308 brass doing that

I have a couple Diligent silencers, this is a really good recommendation and I think the quietest among those named in this thread based on pew science testing. You want the Enticer S-Ti model to check your boxes.

Come to the deer Expo, I will be working the Deadair booth. We will have all the cans, and I will be happy to show you the options. I would say the OTB or to me the best sounding can is the RXD30TI. If your around Boaz, I will be at Alabama Firearms Academy this Saturday from 10-4ish with all the cans.

I bought a suppressor through Silencer Shop. Did lots of research, reading, and video watching. Pew Science in a good resource.

The one I bought was the Precision Armament Titrex Ti 300.

Came in at number 22 on Pew Science ratings in the .308 win. category. All the cans in front of it were longer cans.This was one of the highest rated short cans.

This is a statement from the Pew Science report on the Titrex Ti 300 - "It is likely that the TiTrex represents one of the most optimized performance examples for length that currently exist".

It is 6.2" long, weighs 9.3 ounces, 1.65" diameter, and comes with direct thread hub mount, k-brake, and regular end cap.

I will wind up with a 24.2" overall barrel length on my Bergara B14 Ridge SP 18" barrel rifle.

I really liked everything I was able to find out on this suppressor. Everything is done, just waiting on my approval now.
