I hope pastors aren’t preaching that either. Logically, I think it makes sense to believe in biblical creation for many reasons, but evolution don’t send anyone to hell. Rejecting Jesus does that. But let’s look at the larger issue. Either Christ is exactly who he said he was or he’s not. If he is, then the account of creation would be true. If he’s not then it would be untrue. Either the entire account from start to finish is true or it is not. One false account would discredit the entire thing. Does belief in evolution condemn one to hell? No. But I’m not sure how one could believe in Christ and evolution and reconcile the two. Being made in His image doesn’t leave evolution as a possibility, much less a probability.

What you just said is exactly why folks take everything literally even if doesn’t make sense to take a literal interpretation from something that was obviously a “story” being passed down……It has to be all or nothing because anything that might be perceived as gray subconsciously brings on that psychological unrest described in the cognitive dissonance definition…..Once a belief has been engrained in you the way religious beliefs are engrained in children then it becomes almost impossible for your brain to allow anything else in later on that would contradict it…..Even if you wanted to believe it, your brain is still gonna fight against you…..Its akin to the idea I was explaining the other day on why folks grit their teeth in order to agree with me sometimes without really understanding why…..Your brain is subconsciously fighting against something without you being consciously aware of it

That being said……going back to the question I asked about if you believe an animal can go from living in trees to walking on two legs……If you believe that is was possible for that animal to start walking on two legs ……then what part of the rest of the process that this animal went through do you not believe is possible??......We obviously see where its brain also changed over time...... How is all of this “changing” not evolution if we compare what the animal eventually becomes to what it once was??
