I bought a Milwaukee 1/2" about a week ago to change blades on a zero turn. It was on sale and I had a fat gift card from Home Depot. I got the model 2967-20 with 1600lb of nut busting torque. That sumbitch would rip the lug nut off a Ferris wheel if you got a big enough socket.
It's overkill for what I need but it did the job lickety split. I'd grab that Harbor Freight and get the protection they offer in case it goes tits up on you. Like you said gotta compare specs and not just names Pretty much applies across the board.
