I’ve always had the same fear. We have an old camp house with a very old wood burning heater. I worry more about carbon monoxide than anything else.

Can happen in your home in the city too. Can't stress smoke detectors enough. This appeared to have been a relatively new structure. Makes you want to take your own smoke and carbon monoxide detector with you when you travel.

Hell... I worry about it at our mountain house in the winter, even though we have an EPA certified wood stove. I get all serious and check everything like 3 times before I go to bed.

Supposedly a new house/camp and an electric golf cart/Polaris plugged in in a carport or garage that was attached to the structure. Current suspicions are that the fire started at the electric utv

The families are from Mobile. 2 boys 19 and 20 died. The others are hurt pretty bad. They had to jump out of a second story window. Terrible situation.

I was told they were shooting fire works and an ember caught the side by side on fire that night and burned the house while they were asleep

If they don't work, I call management or go get one. My hunting cabin is a 12x32 and I put escape windows in the loft, two smoke alarms, and a carbon monoxide detector. It's overkill, but I don't care.

This is so terrible. Just awful.
Our little camper at hunt camp has 2 smoke detectors, 2 carbon monoxide detectors, and an LP detector. Trying not to take any chances. Not sure about a cause but I do know a fire started at our church from the fleet of golf carts being charged. Destroyed several carts and caused some damage to the building.

My little camp has all the safety but it got me thinking how often my son goes to stay with a friend at his camp. I doubt they have the detectors I have. I think I'm going to start sending one with him everywhere he goes.

My buddy hunted at this place before it sold a few years ago,from my understanding this was a new camphouse,my dad hauled some dirt in there for them a while back and there were several new ones built on the property,I’ve also heard one of the boys made it out but one didn’t so he went back in to get him but never made it back out,sad situation for sure

Such sad news. Just heard from my son who was teaching along with his wife at St. Pauls when one of the young men went to school there. He and his wife both had this young man and his siblings in their middle school classes and really enjoyed them and their family. He also knew the parents of the other young man and the schools and community are heartbroken. May the Lord provide comfort for all concerned. Praying those that were able to get out are not injured.
