It’s called being created in the image of the Creator. We were never not intellectual. As a matter of fact I’ll argue we were far more intellectual then than now. We didn’t evolve from cave men. That’s the biggest lie perpetrated on intellectuals. Look at the evidence. We’ve always been human.

This right here

I’d say man was far more intellectual 100 years ago than we are today. I know men today who can’t change a tire.

Just curious as to what y'all are basing this idea on?? Are you saying home erectus was far more intelligent than us?? What I'm reading says that homo erectus started out with a brain about 500 cc in size and eventually grew over the course of a couple million years to around 1000 cc......Did intelligence and cognitive function not increase with brain size growth?? I'm assuming this also revolved around certain parts of the brain like the frontal lobe increasing proportionally in size

Every one of us still have 1-4% Neanderthal DNA. It is higher in East Asian populations and lowest in African populations.

That is incorrect and is a terribly misleading stat or figure that has been washed through the mainstream for a while now.
We have DNA that developed in Neanderthal regions and time periods but no real Neanderthal DNA. If anything Neanderthal DNA is actually mutated and recombined human DNA. Neanderthals, Denisovins, Floresians, "Red Deer Cave", Heidelbergensis, Rudolphensis, and Sapien, all are direct and recombined Homo Erectus off-shoots.

This is my understanding of it for what its worth ao take it with a grain of salt……Neanderthals originated from a group of homo erectus that migrated out of Africa and into Europe……Due to environmental differences in Europe over the course of tens of thousands of years this group changed or evolved into a slightly different human with different characteristics…..When something changes enough from the original that’s when we start calling them a different sub-specie…..I think part of the debate with science is how much change has to occur to classify something differently

Also during this same period of time the original homo erectus group that these folks branched off from also changed and evolved……Eventually tens of thousands of years later these two groups came back together as homo sapiens and neanderthals when homo sapiens again left out of Africa……Not sure what kept the two apart for so long and kept other homo erectus groups from continuing to migrate once they started…..Maybe there was just a short window of time in the beginning when such a migration was possible and then the route closed off for thousands of years….not sure

The question for me is what happened to homo erectus that separated them and began the human journey…..AI says it was likely a mutation……which to me that in and of itself is a pretty miraculous thing to have occurred that I can still attribute to God….This wasnt just any old mutation....That would have been a pretty special one......I actually find the Bible’s attempt at explaining all of this to be remarkably accurate in the general ideas…..I don’t have to take it literally to appreciate it……The idea that something changed with “knowledge” is spot on

Nothing “suddenly” happened. But introducing high caloric value food (meat), cooking methods, ability to communicate & teach the next generation so each new born doesn’t have to re-invent the wheel….all these things slowly helped us eventually rise to the top.

This discussion is literally two semesters worth of college of you want to get into the details of it.
To keep things simple. For Neanderthal to be a different specie, then that means we would not be able to produce viable offspring with them. The simple example is the difference between a horse and a donkey, breed them together, you get a mule. The mule is sterile and no further offspring will be created.

Neanderthals and Homo Erectus and Denisovins, and the others still occupied the Old World landscape. Just like today the differences between them are the same as the differences between Asians, Indians, Arabs, White Europeans and the all shades of Africa, today. Neanderthal was just a variation of Homo Erectus. The first Homo Sapiens were also just a variation of Homo Erectus that happened to have a very high birth rate and better aptitude for developing a more advanced tool kit.

There had to be a point in time that something happened to start homo erectus on that journey from a 500 cc brain to the 1000 cc………Kind of like there had to be a moment in time when the first one created fire on its own……That was a defining moment in time when everything after that point changed because of it…..The same concept exists for a point in time for when homo erectus had been running around for tens of thousands of years with a 500 cc brain that changed and started the growth

One interesting aspect of this is the fact that at some point in time psychedelics came into play……and if early man was experimenting with food sources to understand what was what then it likely happened early on …..If there were any psychedelic substances available to homo erectus then you gotta assume at some point he “tripped” on them……The reason I find this to be potentially important is because something that has been noted in recent times by people experimenting with DMT is that everyone sees the same type of geometric patterns and such inside of this other world they describe no matter where they come from or their life experiences, etc……

This means that ancient humans would have been seeing the same things as well inside of that world that the hallucinogens sent them to…….To see such things as a primitive human would have stimulated all kinds of creative thinking and ideas just by seeing the geometric shapes and patterns put into motion……Its also been shown that psychedelics link up neuro pathways in the brain that were previously silent so that would have also added to the more “enlightened” human…….Me personally I don’t see how this didn’t play a role since we trace back the used of psychedelics through all of the native tribes and such in more recent times…..That all had to have started a LOOONG time ago…..Is something of that nature what triggered the original mutation??....The Bible says that we ate something we weren’t supposed to that gave us knowledge

I wouldn’t necessarily say that……I’m not sure what all you have to believe to qualify as one……I don’t believe that a modern human just poofed into existence, no…….I think we came from an earlier line of primates to which something miraculous happened to them that separated them from all the other animals in the form of “knowledge”……It doesn’t make sense to me to tie my thinking to a literal account of an ancient story that was told….In doing so folks have to start completely ignoring what science shows us to be reality so that the literal narrative holds together….This is where I diverge from a lot of other folks in how I look at the situation…..To accept that we came from a more primitive animal does not make the whole God concept crumble in my mind …..nor does it make the Bible somehow irrelevant…..I cant go with this idea that we have to take it literally and participate in intellectual dishonesty or willful ignorance to make it work

Look…… if someone wants to believe it literally and that’s the only way its digestible to them and everything crumbles otherwise……then that’s their prerogative to believe that way……I just cant get in that wagon with you and ride out…….and one of the “rubs” I guess you could say I have is the way folks start having a bless your heart and we’ll pray for you attitude if you don’t…….negro please…..I wonder if folks realize how arrogant that comes across sometimes in just assuming you are somehow the more “enlightened” and feeling sorry for those who don’t conform……To me it comes across as lacking true humility…..

If you and I were to have that discussion, I would never come across that way toward you......promise. I know I've pestered the mess out of you on stuff here but when it comes to matters like this, I take it seriously and treat the situation much differently than talking about killing does. wink When it comes to matters of faith, one should never present their views in a condescending manner. That goes against everything a person of faith should represent. You can catch more bees with honey than vinegar. I present my view in a way I don't see others present it. I’m open to listen to others thoughts……You’re gonna have to have one heck of a sales pitch though to convince me to believe it literally……… grin

I hope it revolves around the idea of just laying all of that down and letting your mind be at peace with the idea that there is a higher power that understands it all so we don’t have to……and if I have faith in that and do what I know in my heart is good and don’t lose shame and lean in to doing what my heart tells me is wrong…..then that God will have my back when its time to depart this world…….Just sayin……But go ahead I'm all ears grin

I probably shouldn't say that I agree with you here, but I do. I think this line of thinking is more inline with the truth.
