What about the fact that they are a nitrogen producing legume??.....Are there other species that benefit from the locust's presence that might not be there otherwise??......I'm not sure about it but I would think an individual plant of the size of a tree would have a bigger footprint in this manner than just your regular old bean or something......Just a thought
