I was driving down 87 in Florida this morning and got stuck behind the Round-Up grass spraying truck for 3 miles. It got me thinking about this case. https://x.com/AP/status/2070149798204719305

The Supreme Court has sided with the maker of Roundup weedkiller, blocking thousands of lawsuits alleging it failed to warn users the product could cause cancer.
Bayer stock is up %18.7 on the news.

Gly is probably the least possible herbicide I use. Paraquat scares me

The more specific a herbicide the more it seems harmful. Except paraquat, that crap scares me

I have some Paraquat I will swap with you if you will swap me some Gly for it. Just kidding. That’s why it is still in the shop. I have it marked and just don’t know how to get rid of it. Paraquat is some of the stuff they used in Viet Nam to destroy the foliage. It worked but killed thousands of good young men when they got back home. It is some bad stuff.

It is tough stuff, but works well for what it was created for (just have to be careful and respect it for what it is). Spilled some on my shorts while refilling spray tanks for burn down at planting and it ate a hole in my shorts in less than 5 minutes!

That stuff is bad. Just take a sniff when you open the containers. Somehow growing up gramazone was something we never had at the house. We got some about 5 years ago from a chemical company here in Colbert. They were trying to get rid of it. That is where ours came from but we never sprayed any of it.

Dang Skinny, I’ve, I’ve never seen a spray rig with Round-Up posted on the tank, or never seen it used on ROW’s. Though they mainly used broadleaf chemicals.

I just call it the Round-Up truck, I figure they are spraying an AP herbicide but I dont exactly what they are spraying. It smells like Gly.

Speaking of, what do yall use for rock drives and stuff? Like the ones at the camp that don’t get used in the summer? Grass be taking over right now. I want some really good once a year stuff

Paraquat, or gramoxone as it's called now, has always been a restricted use herbicide, as far as i know. Have sprayed many many gallons of it in peach orchards. I believe gramoxone is a watered down version of paraquat. Like most everything else, you pay more for it each year & have to use more per acre to get the same effect. I can remember using guthion, parathion, thiodan & other really effective insecticides that the epa has banned in America, yet other countries still use these chems & then ship their produce here. Epa has no problem with that- has always been run by liberals of course, until recently anyway. Always about the money & they'd sure like to see roundup go extinct- after the deep pockets have been emptied. Hopefully the SC just ended that.

Used it in burn downs and to dry out bean stalks. Have to wait 15 days or so before actual combining. I always waited until beans have fully matured. It helps with harvest. Wished I’d used it back with our old timey combine. It hated beans.

There was a bad incident years ago and not sure what happened to the guy. All I ever heard was it was bad

Funny... I was just thinking about this today on my ride through southern Arkansas and northern Louisiana. There's ag fields everywhere, as far as the eye can see. When you look at the crops, whatever crop it is, it's growing like wildfire, but in all the dirt around it, there ain't nothing growing at all... Not one plant growing other than what's planted.

Then I noticed every now and then there'd be a house of some sort. People living there in the middle of all those ag fields. What the Hell are they breathing and drinking in all day every day?

What the Hell are we eating all day every day?

It's interesting that the same people that make all the herbicides and pesticides are the same people that make the medicines that are supposed to keep us healthy.

By the way, I rode about 300 miles today and only a small few bugs hit my windshield or helmet. Why ain't there more bugs this close to the Mississippi?

Outback used to say it was just salt. They spray 24d in Guntersville lake all the time

The lack of bugs is very noticeable and concerning.
