Dang this went off the rails. There is no law that says you have to have serial numbers. I do defense. If the owner can identify the guns being pawned on video it’s a case. With that being said i would never expect this kind of bs being said about law enforcement on this site. Every county deputy I know is way underpaid and does his job to the best of his ability. They are the good guys not the perfect guys. No one ever said it was a law. It was stated that without the serial numbers some departments use it as an excuse not to pursue investigations which in many cases, you are correct, other identifying characteristics could determine ownership of the firearms. It’s a shame those departments don’t do everything in their power to investigate and get the weapons back to the rightful owners.
