If a door-to-door salesman was standing on the sidewalk just in front of a homeowner's front porch, and the automated sprinkler system just happened to come on because it's scheduled to run intermittently, and because it is old and worn out and has to be readjusted periodically, it sprayed a little too far onto the sidewalk and totally by accident soaked the door-to-door salesman....would the homeowner have any legal liability? What if the saleman's phone/ipad/etc got wet in the process?
Totally just a hypothetical and asking for a friend It's really in the hands of the Judge and Lawyers. There's been many cases where trespassers have trespassed onto someones land, got hurt for whatever reason, and then sued AND WON for being in a place they shouldn't.
