Those bears typically bluff change and give ya the pucker factor and then walk away OR you move and they take the trail. Rarely did we carry a side arm while fishing, we just let them take the fish lol

My Dad says that in Alaska (according to their fishing guide - that is also a native hunting guide) that if you are hunting bear - both you and the guide pull the trigger at the same time. They want to make sure they recover the bear, because a miss still counts against the guides tags/permits.

He also said that if you are fishing in an area that has bears - ONLY the guides have guns and can shoot a bear if they are aggressive, with no repercussions. In their experiences of fishing there - if the bears showed up, they left and never had any issues.
