Looking to buy a fixed power or low power scope to set up on my kids savage rascal. Would prefer something that has good clarity, lightweight and simple duplex.

A true “rimfire” scope with the parallax set at 50 yards will serve him better than a standard scope with a 100 yard parallax setting.
Should be able to source a new Burris droptine rimfire for around $100
You're only as good as your worst shot-

That might be too big for this gun. Ideally would like to find a fixed 4x rimfire leupold.

Leupold stopped production of fixed 4x rimfire scopes in 2023 --I'm pretty sure you know that-- but I have used the CF 4x's on 22's with good results. With all the long range shooters looking for a HUGE scope, there was not much of a fixed 4x market, I guess. Might have to go to ebay or G-broker. Somebody here might have one they are not using and that would be even better.
Remember: It aint what you shoot...it's how you shoot it.

Does it have to be pretty? Not really, just as long as it’s clear.

I have a Field and Stream 4x32 that's clear, looks like new, and only weighs 10 oz. It's yours if you want it. I like to see kids learning g how to hunt and shoot.
