Seems a little early to me. Usually check garden everyday but missed a couple of days due to the rain. Checking tomatoe plants that baskets were leaning or blown over. Noticed the tell tale signs of the dreaded hornworm. Hadn't done much damage fortunately, only saw a little damage on 2 plants. I'll spray all of them when this rain stops. I'll keep a close eye on them until them. I hate those damn green spawns of satan

If you have a UV/black light, you can probably go outside at night and find them pretty quickly and eliminate them. I don’t really have any tomato plants except one small one my gf bought about a month ago. It became clear she was never going to actually plant it so I put it in a 5 gal grow bag with all my pepper plants. But I understand they aren’t above munching a pepper plant either so I’ll be keeping a close eye too.

Plan on spraying and a few other things as soon as this storm moves out

Rain killer all my tomato plants. No need for worm patrol.

We've been black lighting and only found the two. Those two got 3 mater and one pepper plant.
Luckily, I planted new peppers and a bunch of other stuff for my wife and they'll be ready to go in the ground soon.

every single morning for weeks we’ve been waking up early & black lighting our plants - just did it this morning & pulled off 2 hornworms do NOT sleep on these devils - if you Google the hawk moth you’ll learn that they lay a TON of eggs all those eggs hatch into hornworms
be patients & slowly work that black light over all the branches - bump the plant & often you’ll see them squirm & move — look closely underneath the leaves & branches …

Notice 3 of 6 tomato plants in a raised bed had hornworm damage this morning before work. Didn't have time to search properly so it made for a very long day anticipating finding them.
Only found one worm. It was covered with wasp eggs. I didn't give the wasps time to hatch, just killed it. Hope I didn't miss one. Another 24 hours we will see.
My 8yo can find a snail in a heartbeat. Collected a dozen tonight alone. She wasn't interested in finding worms for finding snails.
So another pest question. My green beans started looking rough, almost overnight. Leave dry and brown, crunchy. I don't know if it's just the cycle. I pulled all of them, salvaged what I could. Planted more.
I noticed the soil was crawling with pill bugs. Everywhere. Little bitty to giant. Should I go ahead and treat the soil now or wait?

Next time I would definitely let the wasp covered worm live. However that doesn’t mean it’s gotta stay on your plant. I’d just run it somewhere decently away from the plants such as the other side of the house. That’s natures primary defense against them. Each wasp would probably go on to kill more.
So far I haven’t seen any on mine but my black light came in and I stand ready. I did see a few glowing green small chunks (smaller than a BB) in the dirt of my pepper plant grow bags. Not sure what they were but so far no horn worms.
