Does your sugar go up and down alot or do you manage with diet? My 12 year old got diagnosed last June and my thoughts are keeping the carbs to a bare minimum and he won't use as much insulin. But seems with puberty and sports all day its a struggle. Of course the Dr says eat whatever and take a shot sorta like he has stock in it or something.

Type 1 can’t be managed with diet from my understanding. Type 1 means your body doesn’t make insulin anymore. Your diet will help you take less insulin but you are going to have to take a shot regardless.
