Hell, I'm a Type 1 diabetic. Take 5 shots a day. (2 different insulins) Been doing it for 36 years now.
Just watch your diet, and don't sweat the rest.
Ever thought about the insulin pump? My wife is Type 1 and her A1C is around 6 to 6.5. She uses the Medtronic pump.
