Anyone here grow muscadines and blueberries?
I built two 40 foot trellises this year and planted a Cowart, Summit, Fry, and Hall. Unfortunately the Hall didn’t make it at all, and the Cowart suffered from something. I eventually pulled the Cowart up and as I did, I noticed 2 buds at the very base, and I had to cut it all the way down to a stump. In the mean time, I ordered another Cowart last minute for late May/early June planting and it sprouted and is doing okay, but obviously behind the others.
The Summit and Fry are thriving though. The Summit reached the top of its 6’ wire and is starting to branch, and the fry is about 2’ down each side of its 5’ tall wire.
I also planted 4 blueberries, 2 biloxi and 2 legacy. I fell victim to rushing thru buying them at Home Depot without having done as much research as I did for muscadines, but they seem to be establishing pretty well. I’ll just have to watch the Biloxi for early blooms and protect from frost, while hoping the Legacy get enough chill hours.
I’m debating on what to add next year. I’m thinking if all current 3 muscadine vines go smooth, I’ll add one more self fertile variety in place of the Hall. I was thinking of adding 4 more blueberries, currently researching what might be good. I think I might add two rabbit eyes, one southern highbrush to cross pollinate with the Biloxi, and one northern highbush to cross with the legacies.
Then I’d like to add a thornless blackberry trellis and add a few of those to the patch as well.
One of my muscadine trellises is 6’ tall which is too tall really but I was hoping to hinder the deer from eating from it too much, before I broke down and added a 10k sqft electric fence around the whole area

I have about 5 vines on 1 trellis. Two of them are scupadines (sp?). Green variety. They may cross fertilize or there maybe 3 different varieties in them. I have 3-4 different grapes on them. They all taste different and are different sizes. Probably not the best for them, but they are still good.
