I agree on soil preservation if you got that good old un-disturbed topsoil. Use a dozer rake or push up larger plots in a big enough area to burn them and then spread. One year near a bottom at a new home place a pushed off a small garden area. Years ago, I had seen grandpa harvest some nice sized red potatoes for years, but that new spot made some red potatoes as big as softballs. Deer sure liked the rape I planted too.
