Average u.s. gas prices by year
Here are the U.S. annual average retail gasoline prices (all grades, dollars per gallon) from the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) data series:
Year Avg. Price 2000 $1.51 2001 $1.46 2002 $1.36 2003 $1.59 2004 $1.88 2005 $2.30 2006 $2.59 2007 $2.80 2008 $3.27 2009 $2.35 2010 $2.78 2011 $3.53 2012 $3.64 2013 $3.50 2014 $3.36 2015 $2.15 2016 $2.10 2017 $2.42 2018 $2.64 2019 $2.60 2020 $2.17 2021 $3.01 2022 $3.97 2023 $3.51 2024 $3.30 2025 $3.10 I don't think those are inflation adjusted $. Meaning the $3.27 in 2008 is like $6 today. Heck 2011-2014 under Obama is when it was painful . It didn't let up for 4 years . Guess jmj loved the Hussein Obama years.

In February 2007 I bought my 06 Titan and gas was knocking on $4 in the shoals that fall It actually went over 4 for a week or so. Many of the weddings I was shooting the brides kept mentioning I hope that big thing gets good gas mileage I also recall arguing here that those high prices were gonna break the economy. The market also tanked the following year and we got Obama but up until that point folks were willing it with their petro stocks. Skinny was also explaining banking 101 Gonna guess that was the average for the year and not the highest prices

I was thinking 2008/2009 was bad It absolutely was. I drove that truck twice to Wisconsin and 08 it cost more. I wanna say $700 or so in fuel. It may have been early 08 when gas prices started climbing. My phone quit ringing and I was price shopped heavily. Something I’d never experienced. My usual clients were going with smaller pkgs than normal. Some were selling extra real estate especially gulf coast condos. Glenn Beck was on CNN and along with Peter Schiff were going nuts over all the housing bubble and loans.

When I said something about gas prices under Trump I was met with the usual Biden whataboutism and I never got back around to answering it. “Biden closed the pipeline!” Yeah but that oil wasn’t ours, it was Canadian oil. So it was never “our oil”. “Biden put restrictions on oil drilling!” Yes he sure did. And we still set RECORDS for oil production even with those restrictions. Oil production steadily went up through his entire term and continuing to do so even with said protected areas. https://www.eia.gov/Dnav/Pet/Hist/LeafHandler.ashx?n=pet&s=mcrfpus2&f=mThen let’s not forget about COVID recovery and China’s massive demand for oil and gas in their industrial boom. But the jist of what I’m saying is.. Biden is out of office. He’s gone. Can’t blame him for everything forever like Trump does. He can only just now go on camera or Truth Social and finally not say “Biden” every time. There were multiple angles that drove up gas prices under Biden. Now we have Trump, not Biden. And unlike Biden, this gas hike is 100% directly due to Trump’s actions and policy, mixed with a little kissing of BiBi’s ring. There’s not a “gas price” slider switch in the Whitehouse but bombing Iran and blockading the strait is as close to a “gas go up” button as you can get. Iran should have never happened but not only did it happen, Trump has blundered it thoroughly every step of the way. We have a new deal and cease fire every day. People are making massive trades just before his announcements (market manipulation addresses). He plainly doesn’t care about the effects on us and has said so many times. His family and buddies are raking in millions.

If I have to pay $10 a gallon under DJT to move things the right direction then so be it. He's done enough already IMO. It'll only get better.

Do it without AI, if you can. Off top of my head: - doubled standard deduction fed income tax - no tax OT, tips - increased deductions for he elderly - small business deductions - tariff to keep jobs in the US - DOGE cut out a ton of waste (this is still more, but a lot is gone): USAID, etc - stopped censorship - border is shut down - judicial appointments - cut fed work force by nearly10%

Gonna guess that was the average for the year and not the highest prices Yep, those are the averages for the year, that is why it says "annual average" Thanks for reconfirming my point It was In response to a gotcha moment comparing a yearly price to current prices. Not really a fair comparison now is it

Americans are all about instant gratification and me, me, me. Modern Americans , as a whole, don't handle even a little "pain" well.

From last week……..
Come on Kyles, that argument is old and tired. How are you going to feel when Trump releases Irans frozen assets and signs a deal that pushes nuclear talks into the future?
As tiresome as y'all's constant belittling. I will publicly apologize if nuclear talks are pushed into the future and admit Trump lied. If you and skinny will turn looses of the tiresome 15 year war
