The last couple times I had catfish and Jim at Nicks it was surprisingly good. Maybe not best I ever had, but it was a competent catfish plate. agree X’s 2

Not in your locale, but gonna be hard to beat Catfish Cabin in Athens

Johnnys BBQ in Cullman. Whole fried and better than top of the river and most catfish places. Reminds me of the old catfish cabin that used to be in Albertville

Albertville location closed around 2021, or so I thought They are definitely shut down as in the building isn't even there anymore. Couldn't tell you what year though. There's a place on Hwy 77 just about a half mile south of I20 that stays very busy. I don't remember the name and I haven't eaten there, but as busy as they stay, I can't imagine it not being good.

Not relevant because I think they have all closed I think, but I remember Cock of the Walk being incredibly good.

Highway 77 Fish Market. It’s very good. We eat there often. They actually have very good gumbo too.

I know it’s off topic, but I enjoyed going to Ezell’s Fish camp when we hunted in Nanafia, but the place I enjoyed the most was Bobby’s Fish Camp when we were hunting IP land south of there in Bladon Springs. I can still see that beer flat heaped with little squeezers, the big tan bowl of slaw and the best fried pickles. So much fun going there on a Saturday night to see who killed what, all you had to do was look to see which truck people were standing around when you drove up. That place would be packed with hunters back in the eighties.

There was a small place on 43 south of leroy that had all you can eat whole river squealers. Another around coffeeville dam. Both were real good.

Lori Darlins in Fayetteville was pretty good. Cross Lay Lake, turn right off 280 onto Co Rd 008. Go to the end, turn right and its immediately on the right. It might be 6-7 miles off 280.
