Has anyone tried mounting a Vortex Viper on a Benelli SBE3 20 gauge? The gun is drilled and tapped with only two holes at the very rear of the receiver. This would mean that I can only line up a screw in the rear hole and the rear channel with nothing on the front. Will these two holes in the rear be sufficient to mount the sight correctly?

Look at sumtoy mount for the viper. Can possibly get both holes to align with that mount.

If I’m going that route, I will just get another type of red dot. The viper was advertised to be able to mount to any type of shotgun that has been drilled and tapped with no additional rail required

Have another hole drilled and tapped to be able to secure the front of the sight. I wouldn’t trust it with just the rear of the sight attached.

Hi Ray

I probably have the same SBE 3 you have. It’s the 11252 20G 24” Barrel.

I was at NWTF this year and I saw that shotgun with the Vortex Viper. I asked the Benelli rep at the Benelli booth could I do that with my 20. His answer was that they had worked with Vortex and they said it could be ran with just the two back screws.

I called Benelli support yesterday and they said the same thing.

I run the Viper on all my shotguns.

Hope this helps.

If there are two back screws it should be fine. But I would check POI a few times a season
