How is it that we've gotten by without them for the past 20 years but suddenly they are a REQUIREMENT.
I'd like to know that also.
They have been there since the 1990's, but the size and scale of them has grown in a parabolic way over the past 8-10 years. You may recall people talking about Server Warehouses back in the 2000's. Those were data centers but they were not the size of a military base and didnt consume a tenth of the resources that they do now.
