Well; You need to log off and dump you phone, TV, etc. Get a car with no GPS, no security cams, etc. etc. also. Carry on You seem to have a very close relationship with these data centers. Care to expound upon your perceived 'involvement' in them? They’re not in his community yet

My understanding from someone that builds these things is maybe 1 outta 4 actually make from start to finish when announced. I heard the one in Lowndes, and there was talk of one in Hale/ Marengo won’t might not break ground due to not having the amount of power needed to supply the data center.
I think Lowndes center will move forward. The one in Hale/Marengo got quite all of the sudden. I also think someone opened their mouth too soon on that one. Maybe that’s why the silence now.
He said the biggest driver is having a transmission line that CAN supply the amount of power needed. He also said that is like finding a needle in a haystack. When you find it, you struck gold.

THere is a big one going in where I hunt(IN). THey bought 500 acres from a farmer for 50,000 per acre from what I heard. Will bring in 60 million in tax revenue for the small town. Will use around 1 million gallons of water a day.

There has been talk of one in Walker county near the west Jefferson county line. That would make sense because it would be mighty close to Miller steam plant.

Thats mostly accurate. 1 out of 30 make it to the stage of announcement. Once announced its probably 1 out of 4 make it. I've done Critical Issues Analysis for dozens of data centers and solar projects that got scrubbed on the idea table. If a proposed project gets past the first general analysis by someone like me, biologists, geo-engineers, and basic civil planners, then the real fun begins. About 50 steps have to be accomplished before they can consider doing an announcement.

How is it that we've gotten by without them for the past 20 years but suddenly they are a REQUIREMENT. I'd like to know that also. They have been there since the 1990's, but the size and scale of them has grown in a parabolic way over the past 8-10 years. You may recall people talking about Server Warehouses back in the 2000's. Those were data centers but they were not the size of a military base and didnt consume a tenth of the resources that they do now.
