Would like some feed back on these 2 guns. I have shot a steyr but have not shot a T3. Looking to get a 270 or 30-06

I have 2 Steyr Pro Hunters. Both shoot extremely well but are on the heavy side as compared to a Tikka. The Tikka will shoot just as well. I Just don't like the Tikka stock personally.
Thw Steyr stainless mountain rifle in .308 is my "go to" rifle.

Tikka's are great rifles for the $. They shoot VERY well. My son has a T3 in .308, tack drivin',deer killin' machine. The stocks could be a little better on them. There's some slick aftermarket stocks out there.

I have 2 Steyrs-- both shoot very well with the right ammunition. I like the ergonomics of the stock and the adjustable length of pull, and love the three-position tang safety (I learned to shoot on tang-safety Rugers). The stocks are flexible at the forend-- doesn't seem to matter, but it does bother me. They offer a stiffer stock, but want a fortune for it-- that is poor marketing IMO. I helped a lefty friend pick out a rifle and the Tikka was the result. It shoots as well as the Steyrs. With these two choices, I think you should just borrow one of each and see which one suits you better- it's hard to go wrong with either. I will say this-- you hardly ever see a used Steyr for sale--I once sold one, and wish I hadn't.

Both are great guns. I own a Tikka, and have only handled the Steyr. The Steyr seemed a bit heavy to me.

I own both guns and you can not go wrong with either one. I like the Steyr for the safety features and the larger clip capacity, but I like the weight of the Tikka for long stalks. Both are tack drivers with Hornady 165 grain BTSP.

Both are tack drivers with Hornady 165 grain BTSP. Tikka offers a higher capacity clip. Don't know how many it'll hold or price.

Just handle both and pick which feels best to you. Both are excellent rifles.Pay attention to the height of the cheek.I think the Steyr may have a higher cheek and give better cheek weld with higher mounted large objective scopes if that is important to you.
Personally I would get the Steyr just because it's harder to find one.

Personally I would get the Steyr just because it's harder to find one. I have 50 mm scopes on my Steyrs, and get good cheek weld.

It would take a lot to even get me to consider selling my Steyr.

I have a Steyr M-III Professional and a Pro Hunter Moutain both in 270. Of all of the guns I own, those are two of the few I would not let go of. A good friend of mine has a Tikka, also in 270. The Tikka is a nice rifle and I believe the accuracy is on par with the Steyr. However, with that being said, it's the quality and the feel that sets a Steyr apart for me. They are just fine rifles.
The 20in barrel on the moutain rifle is fantastic for carrying and hunting in the thick woods.

Shot both of them, steyr is a better built rifle IMO, the tikka seemed "plastic-y" I like a rifle with a little bit of weight though, its all about preference, I don't think you would regret getting either one . Id go shoulder them both and go from there

The Meopta is great glass and the best you can do for under a $1000.

I've owned both. The Steyr is heavier than the Tikka. I preferred the Tikka because it cost less than the Steyr (even in stainless) and shot just as well if not better. Plus, just easier to carry around. I liked the Steyr, and really wish I hadn't have sold it.

No experience with a Steyr but I have a Tikka T3 Lite Stainless in .25-06 with a Leupold VX-II on it and it is outstanding.
I bought it for the accuracy, trigger, price, and weight in that order and have not been disappointed for a second. Sweet trigger and very smooth action.
