I have upmost confidence that our Government will do the right thing and honor the SS system obligation. It'll be a fuss between the isles but they'll come in agreement to a fix for the system.

Great question, but you can be rest assured that SS will run out long before they start any type of cutting on welfare funding. Ought to cut out welfare completely, starting next week, and take those annually allocated welfare funds and put them back into social security to fund benefits for those actually paying into the system rather than those taking from it. Novel idea, huh?

A new pair of shoes is about all you get with a social security check rofl

Depends how much you paid in and when you started taking benefits
I maxed out the contribution a long time ago and I am not impressed with what I am getting out at 62 or 70

I can already tell you how they will fix it. Their fix will be to increase the retirement age, reduce scheduled benefits, and just print more money to pay for the reduced benefit payments they are agreeing to pay.

I got an idea. Let's put back all the money that was "borrowed" out of SS by previous administrations to make their fabricated stories that their stupid policies wouldn't cost anyone a cent.

Gotta Love the Politics of taxing the people that work and expect a return/SS vs giving our hard earned money to Illegals that didn't contribute anything !! America - WTF ??

Signed a millennial paying into a trash program I’ll likely never see a penny from.

Being 69 years old and retired, I'll return the sentiment. I hope ALL your investments go belly up and you lose every F'n penny that you invest.

Social Security isn't going anywhere. They can print money out of nowhere. Been doing it in mass since COVID.

They will raise the ceiling soon and the retirement age for younger people. It never was designed for people to draw on it for 30 years, but that is where we are. I’m almost 50 and not really too worried if it will be there when I retire. Small tweaks can extend the viability for years and years. If I was 20, I’d be concerned.

I just signed up this last week. I start getting my direct deposit in September.

When we prepped for retirement I assumed, and included in my spreadsheet, that there would be reduction in "benefits" of 25% in the year 2032.

Thankfully I also searched and found a job with a pension 20 something years ago, and thankfully about 20 something years ago we both also started cramming money in in our 401k's until we reached the maximum contribution.

So we have 2 - 401ks, 2 - Social Security checks, 1 pension and Zero debt. The Zero debt makes a big difference.

If they would get rid of the fraud and corruption payments to those who are fleecing the system it might not be destined to be insolvent

Retirement age will probably go up & the party with the best "plan" to continue SS will gain voters. Dems will be playing that fiddle
