Anybody on here fish there? I went Saturday morning and fished for 5 or 6 hours and not a single fish. Threw everything I had, went to Duck River that evening and wore them out. Catoma seems to be super tough right now.

I've never caught anything in Catoma but I suck at fishing so that might be a factor. grin

My youngest fishes the tue derby there every week. Won it a couple weeks ago and they had the bites to win it last week, but broke 2 off on hooksets. May be a night bite right now? Saw where a 14# was supposedly caught at the duck last week? Fishing has always been better on the duck to me.

The harder I practice, the luckier I get.

It's been several years since I fished it and it was always late evening and into night when I did. Shakey heads and deep diving crank baits was what most folks used. The weekly tournaments were normally won with 18-22 lbs mostly football spots with a largemouth kicker.

If you're referring to the Cullman Daily post that fish didn't appear anywhere close to 14lbs to me. The Duck has been on fire lately.

I've fished several friday nighters years ago. Saw where it took 30lbs or better more than once.

I fish there often, never a problem catching them in the daytime but sometimes you have to really slow down and finesse them to catch them, cause they get pressured plenty.
Fishing any lake regularly always helps too.

We caught some giants there a long time ago, mainly at night this time of year
