God rest his soul! I fully support what he did and wish he could have done more!

Get the F out of the BATFE. The F is guaranteed by the US Constitution. Those other letters are not.

rofl I love this and laugh every time this story resurfaces. My personal connection to it was we were on a family vacation and we went through Granby two days after this happened. Everything was still sitting as is and it was a site to see. grin we made several passes and pulled over in a couple of areas. I don’t guess any of us had camera phones or a regular camera around at that time so unfortunately I don’t have any first hand pictures…. Dude went out in style and with a sense of satisfaction!

We hunted elk in Granby last year. They don't really talk about it.

They need to be reminded frequently on why he was forced to do that.

While I'm all about "the little guy" standing up to big bad government....I've never been able to fully jump on the Heemeyer bandwagon.

1. Supposedly he agreed to sell his property to the family that owned the concrete company 3 different times. Each time, after reaching an agreement, he backed out and then increased the price dramatically. The first agreed upon price was like $250k...he backed out and increased the price 2-3 times to nearly $1m...he eventually sold the property to a different company for $400k....more than the first 2 agreed-upon offers from the concrete company family.

2. he claimed the city and concrete company (who ended up building on a different property) "cut off his only access" to his property, but that wasn't the case. They cut off a dirt road shortcut he'd been taking across a vacant lot...he could still access his property. This is further evidenced by the fact that after selling the property, he leased part of the shop back from the new owners, which is where he built Killdozer. if the property was truly cut off, how would he have gotten the machinery and materials in there for so long?

3. He claimed they were fining him out of malice to "ruin" him, but the fines were for having a homemade sewer system that was dumping raw sewage into a creek. City/Court records even show they gave him multiple extensions to install an actual septic system and he refused...eventually leading to fines.

4. He apparently had previously threatened to kill one of his customers over an argument about some muffler work

If everything had gone down exactly the way he claimed it did, I'd be Team Heemeyer all the way....but there is a LOT of evidence that suggests he wasn't quite the victim/hero he's been made out to be.

I really want to believe the Killdozer legend...everyone loves a good underdog story...but it kinda breaks down when you look at the actual details.

The only somewhat-real complaint he had was how expensive it was going to be to tie into the city's sewer system, but...

1. documents show he knew that would be a requirement before he ever bought the property in the early 90's. He bought it anyway, then chose to not do it and instead use a homemade system that dumped raw sewage into a creek that went through other folks' property.

2. the concrete company that he kept backing out on, who ended up buying a neighboring property instead, actually offered to provide him with a FREE sewage easement and tie into their system once constructed, if he'd just drop the multiple frivolous lawsuits against them....apparently he literally hung up on them and refused.

So they pulled a democrat trick on him and he called them out on it.

It doesn’t really sound like they pulled much of a trick on him honestly
