I've got a bad coyote problem and I'd like to try trapping but I've also got bears in the area. For those of you that have experience trapping, what do you do if you get a bear caught in a coyote trap? I realize a big adult would probably get itself out but what about the juveniles and cubs? Thanks

Don’t think it’s likely unless a toe catch. Not many bears in my area but I’d call DCNR for assistance.

I would wait until it fell asleep and then quietly take the trap off thumbup

But if it was a cub, I would let the mother know what I was doing first thumbup thumbup

Last resort, get a bigger Ketch-All pole.

I was told by the states head trapper that bears are the reason why we have size restrictions on foot holds. For yotes I wouldn’t go any bigger than a mb-550. If you did manage to toe catch one and didn’t have the gumption to get it out yourself I’m sure someone with the state would come by and help. Just make sure you’re following all the laws so you don’t get a ticket to go along with your bear story.
