Got a winchester 9422, had it for a lot of years & was just admiring it again for the fine armadillo slayer that it is. Only other 22 that i believe is it's equal is the marlin 39. I've got both & i really believe they're the finest 22 rifles that have ever been made, of any action type including the 10/22. I think if one takes reasonable care of these guns, their ancestors will still be shooting them 200 years from now. The henry levers are good guns & I've shot them, but if you've ever picked up a 9422 or a model 39 against other lever guns, just no comparison the way i see it anyway. My 9422 is a magnum, dang fine round.

I've got a 94/22 Trapper and my Dad left my son a Marlin 39 Mountie. They really are fantastic guns.

I have a couple 9422 both in 22 magnum. I've killed a lot of stuff with the one (hogs, gobbler turkeys and various other critters).That is after it got stolen and returned many years ago . After I got it back in rough shape, I had it parkerized and fixed a crack in the laminated stock. The other is a real nice walnut stocked model with pretty good figure. That one an elderly friend gave it to me because I always admired the figure in the stock.
Has anyone looked at the newer Winchester Ranger? It looks a lot like a 9422. There are some plastic parts (barrel band and something else I don't remember). It's not a 9422, but it is steal and the bolt looks the same as the 9422. I liked it better than the Henery the little bit I've looked at them.

I have a couple 9422 both in 22 magnum. The 94/22 Magnum would be a very useful little rifle. Saw one at a shop in FL several years back. They wanted $1100 for it and I was too cheap to buy it.

I don't know about the winchester ranger. Will have to check it out. I know that 9422s' & 39s' are going for a pretty penny. The pawn shop gun for $1100 mentiomed is about what they bring now. I doubt they'll be coming down in price. I know my 9422 was around $350 in 1988 from walter craig in selma. If any company now started making these guns again at the same quality of the older ones, they'd most likely be close to 2g's.

I have 3 9422s. One 9422M late production with checkered stock, a non checkered early 9422 and a later one checkered. All in like new condition. Great rifles. Only flaw is the magazine tube can fall out when empty.

The Ranger I handled looked like the same receiver and bolt design as a 9422. I doubt they are all machined, probably MIM, but it did look a lot like a 9422 and was around $400.

I could kick my butt for selling a 39a years ago. Bought a savage revel about a month ago I like it. Scoped a Henry for a guy the other day. It shot good

I like the 39 about as much as the 9422. The 39s' for the most part weren't chambered in 22 mag, other than a few of the straight stock 39m models(mounties). Seems like i remember that right. I'm sure one of those would bring several dollars. I've got a 39as with the so called lawyers wart or cross bolt safety. Some folks hate that, but not me. I don't think most that hate it really figure how to use it. Other than chambering a round, I don' leave it on safety. It's easy for your thumb to slip after chambering a live round & lowering the hammer if not ready to fire. The crossbolt safety completely stops this & I've known of 1 or 2 folks that have accidentally fired a lever gun in that process, thankfully nobody hurt because the gun was pointed in a safe direction. With that being said, anybody that hates a lever gun over that pesky "lawyers wart", I'll give you my number & I'll be happy to relieve you of it.😀

It was pointed straight up on the upper floor. I'm dumb, but not that bad, I think. We had to get the ladder, climb up with tarps and blocks. It was raining bad. He had just enough energy left, to beat the shat out of me really bad... no lol on that one

9422 is the cream of the crop !
Luckily Winchester is producing the el cheap version again which is still better than most. Hopefully the 22 mag soon.
Saw a 9422M up in Wetherford Tx for over 2K$
